Looking for some input on how this fit looks.
54 year old just getting back into Road cycling after taking 10 plus years off. Was dealing with hypothyroidism. Was misdiagnosed for several years causing me to put on a lot of weight. In the last 7 months I've lost 90 lb because I got back on the bike and adjusted my diet significantly. I am 6 ft tall currently 240 lb. My new bike is a canyon Endurace size medium.

First of all. Well done for literally getting back on the bike and sorting your diet out. Looking at your bike size looks a bit too small to be honest. How does it feel? Any aches and pains?
Struggling with knee pain for several weeks
Hi everyone! Im new here in The Bile Fit Academy, and Im very pleased to be here! Ive been suffering pain in the front-inner part of the right knee for some weeks, especially when pushing the pedal down with the foot horizontal and parallel to the ground. If I tilt my foot slightly to push more with the metatarsals, the pain is reduced. When pulling the pedal by exerting force with the hamstrings (round pedalling), there is no discomfort, only when pushing the pedal down. I am attaching videos from various angles (front, back and side) as well as images of the cleat adjustment on my cycling shoes (Shimano RC7). As for my medical history, I have had ACL surgery on my right knee. On the other hand, my left knee tends to swell from time to time, especially the lower area of the kneecap (Hoffa's fat pad). After reviewing several documents on bike fitting and cycling-related injuries, I suspect that it may be a goose foot injury, but I am not 100% certain. I have been doing many strengthening and activation exercises for the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, abductors, adductors, and core prior to cycling sessions to send signals to my body to activate and push the pedal with my glutes and not so much with my quadriceps, as this could be one of my biggest problems, but the discomfort has not yet disappeared. I hope someone in the community can help me solve my knee pain problems! THANKS!!!

I think quad strength would help. Have you had a bike fit? 10 mm to drop a saddle straight away might be too much , And maybe bring your cleats back slightly as you could have your knee too far forward. Small adjustments and test.
Left leg hamstring tendonopathy and arthritic knee
I’ve been cycling for seven years and was injury-free until last summer. After a bike fit on a new Specialized Aethos (54 cm), I switched to 165 mm cranks due to limited hip internal rotation. I’m 46, and my fitter noted very tight hips. A few months later, I developed hamstring discomfort and am now having physiotherapy. My fitter believes this is linked to poor hip mobility. Two months ago, I also developed pain in my left knee, which has been diagnosed as osteoarthritis. At a recent fit, it was found that my left leg is slightly longer than my right. My fitter thinks this imbalance may be causing me to compensate and contributing to my issues. Previously, wedges were added under my cleat, but he now recommends adjusting cleat setback to reduce hamstring strain and help knee pain. Any advice on whether the fit changes sound correct and any ideas on whether the hip stiffness could be the real issue? Thanks

As a matter of interest ,have you had your feet correctly checked by a bike fitter? How long rides have you been doing? Depending on how much adjustment you have had can cause problems if you try and ride same distances as before without the body getting a chance to adjust.
Pressure Map
Could or would you do a bike fit without a saddle pressure map?

Speaking from experience it is a very useful tool for the fitter to fine tune your experience and the video mapping helps you understand what is actually going on as well.

Brilliant idea Dan. Look forward to it.
