Nice to Meet You
Hi I'm new here. I'm a Widow of 15 yrs and retired for 14 years, decided my Husband passed away so young I didn't want to work until I died and I wanted to enjoy my future Grandkids (which I am doing-I have 8 Grandkids) I have a Boyfriend, so it's my Boyfriend, my Cats and I. I live in the Driftless area of Wisconsin in my own little corner. I'm lucky to live where I live. Lots of farmers that sell meat off their farms, lots of farm stands in the summer, if I'm not mistaken 1 of the biggest Farmers Markets in the Midwest in Madison, about 40 miles East of me. I can, dehydrate and freeze herbs, fruits, veggies and meat. I love knowing what's in the food I'm eating. I also have 6 medium sized flower beds and grow alot of my produce too. That's me in a Nutshell. My Favorite indoor plants are Purple Heart and Pink Princess Philodendron. My Favorite out door plants are my Hardy Hibiscus, my 38 yr. Old Clematis and my Mini Rose Bush I saved from a fall basket a couple of years ago. Hoping to meet some like minded people here. Also here to learn.

Welcome. Iโ€™m here in Chicago. I used to buy my meat from a farmer in Indiana. Unfortunately heโ€™s no longer with us. But I loved that meat. We would drive 2 hours to the processing plant just to pick it up. Are you doing any gardening inside. I can only imagine what your garden looks like outside.. I did container gardening last summer and will continue this summer.
Hi.
Hi, Iโ€™m new. Thanks for accepting me! I have a potted winter garden in the garage. Does anyone else garden in their garage or basement?

So I tried to garden in my garage but since itโ€™s not attached I did not tend to the plants enough so I started hydroponic gardening. For the Winter. I have been watching a lot of videos on you tube so next Iโ€™m going to start my plants to transplant outside. Iโ€™m just trying to get an area in my house set up because those are going to be in dirt.
๐Ÿฅง๐ŸŒฟ National Pumpkin Pie Day: Grow-Your-Own Pie Herbs for Cozy Holiday Baking
December 25 isnโ€™t just Christmas. Itโ€™s also National Pumpkin Pie Day, which makes it the perfect moment to celebrate the herbs that quietly make holiday baking and cooking extra special. Even if your pumpkin came from a can (no judgment here!), you can still grow the fresh flavor makers right now indoors, in containers, in the middle of winter. Letโ€™s talk about the herbs that pair beautifully with pumpkin pie and other cozy winter dishes and how to keep them thriving indoors. ๐ŸŒฑ ๐“๐ก๐ž โ€œ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ค๐ข๐ง ๐๐ข๐ž ๐‡๐ž๐ซ๐› ๐๐จ๐ญโ€ This is a simple, seasonal edible pot you can grow right now. ๐๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐›๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ก๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐š๐ฒ ๐›๐š๐ค๐ข๐ง๐  & ๐ฐ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐œ๐จ๐จ๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ : * ๐’๐š๐ ๐ž โ€“ earthy, cozy, classic winter flavor * ๐“๐ก๐ฒ๐ฆ๐ž โ€“ subtle, savory, incredibly versatile * ๐Œ๐ข๐ง๐ญ โ€“ perfect for desserts, cocoa, and post-meal tea These herbs: โœ” tolerate cooler indoor temps โœ” grow slowly but steadily in winter โœ” donโ€™t need constant harvesting โœ” smell amazing every time you brush past them ๐Ÿชด ๐๐จ๐ญ ๐’๐ž๐ญ๐ฎ๐ฉ ๐“๐ข๐ฉ๐ฌ You can grow these herbs together temporarily or separately. ๐๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ญ๐ฎ๐ฉ: * Individual pots (4โ€“6 inches) * Excellent drainage * Light, airy potting mix If planting together: * Use a wide pot * Space plants well * Be conservative with watering Mint grows faster than sage and thyme. Keep it trimmed so it doesnโ€™t take over. โ˜€๏ธ ๐‹๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐‘๐ž๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ These herbs need ๐›๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ , even on short winter days. Best options: * South-facing window * East-facing window + grow light * 6โ€“8 hours under a small LED grow light Without enough light, growth slows dramatically and flavors weaken. ๐Ÿ’ง ๐–๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐  (๐–๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐‘๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ ๐€๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ฒ) Herbs in December prefer slightly drier soil. Water when: * Top 1โ€“2 inches are dry * Pot feels lighter * Leaves look firm, not droopy Never let pots sit in water. Soggy roots are the fastest way to lose winter herbs. ๐Ÿฅง ๐‡๐จ๐ฐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐”๐ฌ๐ž ๐˜๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ข๐ž ๐‡๐ž๐ซ๐›๐ฌ Even small harvests make a difference. ๐’๐š๐ ๐ž: * Add to pie crust dough (savory edge!) * Use in browned butter for drizzling * Perfect with roasted squash & pumpkin dishes

@Rivka Strom Thatโ€™s good. You can try a hydroponic garden indoors. Also Im following a couple of gardeners on you tube who are encouraging people to start seeds indoors now.. so they can transplant come spring. So Iโ€™m going to make them attempt to do that too.
