πŸ“š Who do you know that has a book inside them? Maybe it's a friend, a family member, a business owner, a coach, or someone in another community you're part of. This community was built to help absolute beginners go from idea to published book. Inside the Premium level, I walk members through the entire process step by step, using mostly free and low-cost tools so they can create their first book without feeling overwhelmed. And here's a bonus: affiliate commissions are enabled. If someone you refer joins Premium or VIP, you can earn 40% recurring commissions for as long as they remain a member. If this community has helped you, taught you something new, or inspired you to finally start your book, I'd appreciate you sharing it with someone who could benefit too. You never knowβ€”your recommendation could be the thing that helps someone finally become an author. ✍️

What Brought You Here? πŸ‘‹
Lately, I've been putting more effort into making this community feel like a true community againβ€”not just a place to consume content, but a place where people connect, share ideas, and grow together. I'd love to hear your story. What originally brought you into this community? - Did someone refer you? - Did you discover me through YouTube? - Did you find us through the Skool network? - Were you looking for help publishing your first book? - Were you searching for ways to actually sell more books? - Are you a business owner looking to use a book to build authority and create another income stream? Sure, I can see some of the analytics, but numbers don't tell the whole story. I'd rather hear it directly from you. What was the moment, video, post, recommendation, or goal that made you decide to join? Drop a comment below and introduce yourself. I'd love to learn more about what brought you here and what you're hoping to accomplish. πŸš€πŸ“š

@Krista Brea You're welcome and anytime.

I like to be transparent about my earnings because I want you to see that creating an additional income stream is possibleβ€”even if you have a busy life. I still work a full-time job. I'm also a mom to a young child, and like many of you, I have a lot competing for my time. That's why I love self-publishing. Once a book is created, it can continue working for you long after you've finished writing it. πŸ“š Paperback & Ebook Results - Lifetime Royalties: $68,057.75 🎧 Audiobook Results - Audible doesn't make it easy to calculate lifetime earnings because I'd have to download and total every royalty statement individually. However, based on my historical average royalty earnings per sale under the previous royalty model, I've had nearly 17,000 audiobook sales/downloads, which puts my estimated audiobook royalties at roughly $60,000+. πŸ’΅ Combined Estimated Lifetime Earnings - Books (Paperback + Ebook): $68,057 - Audiobooks (Estimated): $60,000+ - Total: Over $128,000 in approximately 3 years Is that enough to replace my day job today? No. But has it helped create more financial freedom, additional income, and opportunities that wouldn't have existed otherwise? Absolutely. The biggest mistake I see people make is waiting for the "perfect" time to start. Every month you delay publishing is another month your future books aren't out there working for you. Imagine where you could be 1 year from now if you started today. What Book Earnings Milestone (PER MONTH) Do You Want to Hit?

🎧 My Audible Royalty Experiment
I'm still not sure how I feel about the new audiobook royalty changes. Technically, I don't have to enroll my titles right now. I could wait until the end of the year and make a decision later. On the other hand, if you choose to opt out completely, it appears that you'd need to remove your audiobooks from Audible altogether. Rather than making a decision based on emotion or speculation, I've decided to run a test. I enrolled five of my lower-performing audiobooks into the new program. These are titles that haven't generated a significant number of sales or listens, so I feel comfortable using them as a test group while protecting the books that are already performing well. My thinking is simple: if these audiobooks become available through the all-you-can-listen membership, they may get exposure from listeners who otherwise never would have discovered them. More listeners could potentially mean more engagement, more reviews, and hopefully more revenue. Over the next few months, I'll be tracking downloads, listens, and earnings to see what actually happens. If the results are positive, I may consider enrolling additional titles. If not, I'll be glad I tested with my underperformers first instead of risking books that are already selling. For now, I'm taking a "measure first, decide later" approach. πŸ‘‰ Are any of you planning to enroll your audiobooks, opt out, or wait and see what happens?

3 Things I Don’t Like About Self-Publishing πŸ‘€
You usually hear me talk about all the things I love about self-publishing and the advantages it has β€” especially how it can save you money compared to hiring a publisher and how you can move much faster than going the traditional publishing route. But today I wanted to switch things up and share 3 things I don’t love about self-publishing through Amazon KDP. πŸ‘€ 1. Printing in Color is EXPENSIVE 🎨 If you're creating a cookbook, children's book, photo book, workbook with lots of graphics, or anything with color pages, costs can climb fast. The longer your book gets, the more expensive it becomes to print, and that means either: β€’ You raise your retail price β€’ You accept lower royalties β€’ Or both 😩 I've played around with the KDP pricing calculator before, and it becomes pretty eye-opening when you start adding page counts. A color book that sounds amazing in theory can quickly become difficult to price competitively. 2. KDP Select Comes with Limitations πŸ“š Now don't get me wrong... I actually like KDP Select because of the perks. You can run Free Book Promotions, Kindle Countdown Deals, and your ebook can also be included in Kindle Unlimited where you get paid based on pages read. BUT... The tradeoff is exclusivity. If you're enrolled in KDP Select, your ebook can't be available digitally anywhere else while you're enrolled. That means no: ❌ Apple Books ❌ Google Play Books ❌ Kobo ❌ Barnes & Noble Press ❌ Selling the ebook on your own website Your paperback and hardcover can still be sold elsewhere, but your ebook is restricted. 3. You Don't Own the Customer Relationship πŸ‘₯ This one is probably my biggest annoyance. Amazon never tells you who bought your book. You don't get their email address. You don't get their contact information. Y ou can't follow up with them later and say: "Hey, I released another book!" This is exactly why it's so important to create ways to bring readers into your ecosystem. Things like: βœ” QR codes inside your books βœ” Bonus resources

Thanks for posting this @Krista Brea I'm in the really early stages of self-publishing, and this list helps. Looking forward to reading what others have found.
