Sydney MoA: Nov 22nd Meetup / IG Grid PhotoShoot!
Gentlemen, let’s give this another whirl! Anyone in the vicinity of Sydney who’s working on their Instagram is welcome to come along and get/give some help (though please RSVP so I can book a table)! Just to be clear: This is NOT a paid or a professional shoot; just some Men of Action getting together to help each other get (or practice getting) grid-worthy photos. The aim: Shots of each of us and groups of us in the following formats - Lifestyle: Full-body Solo shots - - ◦ in high-status / glamorous locations - ◦ that comply with the Rule of Thirds (so activate your camera’s grid and level features) - Candid: “in media res” shots of 2+ folks working on something or on the move REMINDER: Rather than being creative/innovative, the objective is simply to replicate what has already worked for others; if you haven't already, check out the recommended IG profiles of MoA graduates and find/save shots you like. The plan: - Meet for lunch at 1PM at City Extra (1-2 minutes’ walk from Circular Quay train and light rail stations) - Chat and network; find out who we are and maybe how we can help each other ongoing - After 2PM; start scouting locations for the 3-6PM late afternoon/Magic Hour window - 3PM: Commence with the photos until the sun goes down! Locations within walking distance: - Sydney Opera House / Bennelong Point - Barangaroo (a longer walk) - Classy pubs: - ◦ The Hero of Waterloo (Lower Fort St) - ◦ Harbour View Hotel (rooftop bar) - ◦ Glenmore Hotel (rooftop bar) - ◦ The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel - 5-star hotels (for lobby / bar shots): - ◦ Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay - ◦ Shangri-La Sydney - ◦ Capella Sydney - ◦ The Langham - ◦ Crown Sydney (Barangaroo) Prepare/bring: - A set of shots from the list of IG Profile Inspiration (in the Off-Market Dating course) that you want to replicate. If you feel stuck, some Aus profiles with solid Sydney shots include: - ◦ https://www.instagram.com/trevor_low - ◦ https://www.instagram.com/xenophondos - ◦ https://www.instagram.com/fixyourig - Items: - ◦ Your phone or camera. - ◦ At least one change of clothes (basically so you can mix outfit between shots). - ◦ At least one prop (laptop, phone, etc.)

I'm away that weekend, have fun guys. Spot on tips from @Rob Farquhar , bring a change of clothes, props: book 📖, even wearing a watch or sunnies ⌚ (doesn't need to be fancy or expensive). If you're sitting at a fancy bar, buy a drink as a prop, otherwise it'll look a little weird sitting at a table with no drink🍷 Put on your stoic or James Bond gaze in your shots. Looking into the distance, a bit like you're deep in thought. And relax your shoulders while you're gazing
Sydney MoA: Oct 18 Hotel Tour for Lifestyle/Candid Photos
UPDATE: After discussion with Anthony, we've decided to make this another photo shoot day, and this time we're going to start in some classy surrounds; the foyer cafe of the Kimpton Margot Sydney (339 Pitt Street). We'll meet at 12:30PM, grab some food and take a few candid shots of us as a group plotting world domination (lively discussions, reviews of things on laptop screens, etc.), then head off to some other locations around the CBD for more lifestyle photos, potentially including: - The Fullerton Hotel Sydney, 1 Martin Place - The Langham, 89-113 Kent St, Millers Point - Ace Hotel Sydney, 47 Wentworth Avenue - Capella Sydney, 24 Loftus Street - The Darling at the Star, 80 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont We'll see about photos both inside and, if they have a decent entryway, shots of each of us exiting the premises in style, possibly even some on-street "posse" photos. (Original text:) After having a great time with @Anthony Kenyon-Slade today, I'd like to keep getting together with Sydney MoAs on the regular to swap stories, trade skills and keep each other accountable. So I'm thinking, third Saturday of each month, we meet to catch up, talk shop and refine our plans. No intent to get photos for IG (unless we can get a waiter to get the odd candid group shot) so no props or changes of clothes needed (we'll save that for first Saturday of each month). Who's up for 1PM at City Extra on Saturday, October 18th? @Felipe Grez , @Nicholas Xenophondos , @Jordan Taylor , @Shane Franco , @John Cena , @Trevor Low (also you out-of-towners, @Nick Cownie , @Craig Langlands and @Mick Byrne )

That One High-Status Skill ...
Many years ago I was attending a self-development event where there was a line-up of speakers each speaking on their topic of expertise. The room was filled with about 400 participants. Many could not interest me TBH but there was this one British fellow called Andy who took the stage at a moment. He opened with the sentence I'll never forget. He said: "After my 30 minute talk I will have sold over $100K in courses. I remember the audience laughing loudly but boy ... After his talk I saw about 40 people in the audience running to the back of the room to sign up for his $5K course! Yeas, they were actually running towards the registration desk in the back of the room. This man had mastered the art of influencing others so they would to what he wanted them to do! Friends, this is in my opinion the One Skill you need to master in order to have a great life. PS: Yes I bought his course too of course but not at that moment, still have it on my EHD.

Nice post, often times in life we're either influencing people or getting influenced. This Andy guy definitely has some serious sales and communication skills. Skills where it's a lifelong learning commitment. So keep at it, leveling up your influencing skills 💪
Any Australians in MOA?
