Work Clothes
I thought this would be fun. What do you wear for automotive work? Leave a comment below for what brand(s) you like and why. I got tired of smelling like penetrating oil (Kroil is evil). So I am going to give coveralls a try. I figured, it would keep stink ang grease off my close and prevent me from needing to buy tech clothes (Work Shirts and Pants).

TOOL YA CANT LIVE WITHOUT
Mobile techs—what’s one tool you absolutely can’t live without? Not budget-based, just the best purchase you’ve made A tool you wouldn’t hesitate to replace Today if it broke A tool that’s used multiple times weekly and would be just a set back of a day without it Mine would be my one way check valve for bleeding brakes or my booster pack !!!

Toolbox! It’s sooooo much better when you can carry more tools.
When you can't meet expectations.
So my 11 year old son and I started a small biz. We work only a few jobs a week because of his school and my day job. I figured this would be a good opportunity for him learn business and cars. Anyways when your working a job, sometime things don't go as planned. Especially for the medium to large jobs. When I was doing this for friends for free or on my own vehicles, it wasn't that big of a deal to manage expectations or pick it up the next day. However, when someone is paying me, I fee a need to make everything perfect in the planned time. If I can't get something done with in the time, it may be a week before my son and I can get back out there. I know it is not normal, but my son and I charge a flat rate for a job. Some times I may take extra time teaching my son something or I may go at a slower pace. So I charge a flat rate based on how many hours the "book" says it will take. This way the customer doesn't pay for any extra time it might take to get the job done. Do any of you guys have a plan or policy for how you handle not meeting expectations (Yours or the customers)? Do you refund all or part of their money? Are there other options or ideas. I have a really hard time not meeting expectations and I want to grow past this. So I am curious to hear what you guys do. Especially if your only doing this part time.

That was my schedule first starting out. Basically nights and weekends. I never took on a job that I knew I couldn’t finish in about 2 hours. If something broke, then I’m pulling an all-nighter. It sucked, but you gotta commit.
Tektonic event in Texas
Unfortunately I’m not going to this event this year. Although I was invited by Tekmetric as a creator to attend I had to turn it down. (Saving for daughter’s wedding). It is a few day event hosted by Tekmetric called Tektonic. It is not cheap to attend. But they offered me a link to give out to my members. I don’t receive anything from it. The link is TEK11CONF if you are wanting to go this will Help save on tickets about $600 he said I have no verified that.
