It is 7 and is nobody present. Am I in the wrong call?

Our team started a recreational program for people that want to do dragon boating just for fun, not for competition. I already invited some of my friends and acquaintance to share the experience. 😁
Paddle, steer, or both?
What's the split for you - or are you exclusively steering now? And if you are still paddling, how does that influence you as a steer?

@Liisa Reimann I believe it, especially when the wind and water current is strong. Also, it must be demanding during competitions.

@Liisa Reimann Cool! ☺️
Steers as team members: to pay or be paid?
Thanks to @Will Bober for inspiring this question. I'm curious.... how does your club structure the steering role? Is it a dues-paying role (i.e. do your steers pay club dues like everyone else), do you comp their dues, or do you pay your steers for their time?

We were asked who wants to try to steer and we got trained on it. It was a very interesting experience. I think that it is super helpful for a team to have people trained in everything.
Introduction Level II
- Born and bred in the NorthStar State and Land of 10,000 lakes— Minnesota - I am a 20 year veteran of the Dragon Divas of St. Paul, MN. We are now one of the largest BCS teams in the USA with a paddling membership of 140+. - I started steering practices at the bequest of our coach back in 2016. I began steering races in 2017, International BCS races in 2018 and have steered for various teams at PanAm events and at practices for teams in the metro over the past couple years. I love high stakes racing. - The only thing that scares me are pleasure boats that decide to whip around behind the staging areas of the race course and create dangerous conditions for the teams. Thrills- Getting a great start and a well executed race. - New Thrills— I started Liberty training with a rescue horse named Lucky Bea. I now sponsor her because I love her so much. I started archery lessons with my teenage grandson. He keeps me on my toes. Both activities help me quiet my mind and focus… great for steering.
