Hello everyone, I'm thinking about what I'm likely to be asked once I start putting myself out there as a potential facilitator. In order to be prepared, what are your top questions people ask? ("How much does it cost?" is a given, as is, possibly, "Why so much?") Thanks everyone!
@Rebecca Courtney thanks so much for taking the time :-) Some of those are tricky for a start-up, but I think a few free of charge beta sessions would get round that .
For quiet some time I’ve asked myself now if freelance facilitation is only something for extroverts. Especially because of the additional marketing aspect that comes with it which requires additional human contact. Am I right or are there any freelance introverts in this community who are happy with it?
I'm INFP-T (turbulent mediator apparently). I have a professional role in the day job (barrister/trial lawyer) which requires performance and being at the forefront all the time. Yet I would have been the last person you would have expected to do that job. The trick is that (a) I know my stuff; (b) I am always fully prepared; c) I know someone else depends on me; and (d) the role has a set routine in which I know when I am expected to speak and there is space for me to do so, i.e. I don't have to assert my right to make myself heard because the role comes with the right to be heard and an expectation that I am. Thus I find I can set aside my diffident tendencies to play the role I'm undertaking. I think as facilitator it is much the same - I would put my metaphorical facilitator hat on and exercise the right that comes with the role, having set down strong ground rules at the start.
@Johannes Berner In some ways perhaps, but my point is that, for me at least, having a role with a defined function enables me to step outside my personal bubble and occupy a professional role for a time. For some that may help.
