My signature course is here! 🎉
Hey everyone, finally! My signature course "Low-Pressure Art-Making with Wonky Shapes" is now available right here inside The Wonky Art Society. 😍 I know not all of you are Skillshare members, so I really wanted to make sure you can access it here, too. This is the class where I teach the technique and philosophy behind my wonky shapes, why I intentionally avoid perfect lines and shapes, and how this little shift can take so much pressure out of drawing while still helping you grow your skills. You can now find the full class in the Classroom and purchase it directly there. And this is only the beginning. 😇 Little by little, I’ll be filling the Classroom with more classes, workshop replays, resources and other useful creative goodies. I’m also planning an optional membership for the future, so those of you who would like access to everything won’t have to purchase each item individually. The community and live events will stay free, of course. The membership will simply be another option for those who want the full growing library without having to purchase every single item. But for now: the Wonky Shapes class is officially here! 🎉 I’m so happy to finally have it in our little Society home. ❤️

Wednesday Check-In
Alright, now that my studio makeover is done, I can focus again on what’s most important to all of us: art-making. 😇 So, I would like to ask you today: What’s one tiny thing that has made art-making easier or more enjoyable for you lately? Let’s all share our little tips and tricks so we can learn from one another! Mine is: Using the same color palette for several drawings instead of starting from scratch every time. Not only does it help tremendously while drawing, but it also creates this cohesive look that people recognize as “style”. It can also be a limitation that makes you think outside the box! What if the item you would like to draw is originally red, but you don’t have red in your color palette? Now you’re practicing problem-solving, too! Now tell me yours! 👇

I started creating a signature palette I turn to again and again. It can change/evolve, but it's my favorite colors that I have no problem using in any project. This is in Procreate but I also have a favorite palette of watercolors which I reach for.

@Chey Townsend tried adobe, don't like it, learning Affinity with Liz and it's a lot easier to manage. I'd pause Adobe and give Liz's basic Affinity classes a try.

@Leslie Hanson My daughter is a master at coloring and blending with them. I think you have to blend them right away, while they are wet? They are in the marker category that scares me and this includes Tombow markers - although I have the complete color set and sometimes use them in a sketch journal. I just don't like how streaky they look when I use them LOL.

@Leslie Hanson LOL. Good luck with that thought ....
Three Vessels Doing Shadow Work
Jumping back into the shadow practice with three vessels, one of which has a degree of transparency. Might have been a bit overly ambitious, but there's some stuff here I like.

I love these shapes... and the shadows.
Shady Popsicles
I love that they look like funky trees. So many layers of shade. Thank you for the demonstration, @Jutta Schneider . Great fun spending time live with members of the community while honing skills. 😄
