Today’s very important community question: What’s a cuisine you absolutely love that is not your own home cuisine? 🍕🍱🥟🌮🌯 I’ll go first: My absolute, absolute, like I mean REALLY absolute top favorite cuisine is the Japanese cuisine. Not necessarily sushi but all kinds of homecooked meals. So healthy and delicious. I also like authentic Chinese food, nice ‚n spicy 😇, Thai & Korean as well. And no, I don‘t cook German food anymore since years 😂 What about you?

Hey everyone and happy Monday! It's time to announce the new prompt for this week, and guess what? My wonderful intern @Peter Schneider (aka husband) has made something for me! He has developed a Drawing Prompt Generator iOS app for me, how cool is that?! From now on we will be using the app to generate our weekly prompts, so even I don't have to sweat and think of something we could draw. 😇 And the best part, you can even choose the challenge level! Relaxed: 1 prompt (a simple "what" --> green) Easy: 2 prompts (a "what" and a "where" --> pink) Medium: 3 prompts (a "what", a "where", and a "mood"! --> yellow) Full wonky chaos: 4 prompts ("what", "where", "mood", AND color suggestion! 😇 --> red) You can interpret them however you like. Digital, traditional, quick sketch, finished illustration, tiny doodle, dramatic masterpiece, suspicious little blob with personality — all welcome. The goal is not to make something perfect. The goal is to show up, play a little and see where the prompts take you. Feel free to share your sketch or finished piece in the community whenever you’re ready. I can’t wait to see what you make! Alright, now that my studio makeover is done, I can focus again on what’s most important to all of us: art-making. 😇 So, I would like to ask you today: What’s one tiny thing that has made art-making easier or more enjoyable for you lately? Let’s all share our little tips and tricks so we can learn from one another! Mine is: Using the same color palette for several drawings instead of starting from scratch every time. Not only does it help tremendously while drawing, but it also creates this cohesive look that people recognize as “style”. It can also be a limitation that makes you think outside the box! What if the item you would like to draw is originally red, but you don’t have red in your color palette? Now you’re practicing problem-solving, too! Now tell me yours! 👇

Hey everyone, my Mid-Century Illustration Fun with Markers & Ink: Make it Wonky! class is now available right here inside The Wonky Art Society, too! 😍 If you don’t know me yet, I have a strong passion for mid-century art and illustration and have a bunch of classes about it over on Skillshare. I know not everyone has a Skillshare subscription, so I’ll make sure to upload them all to the Wonky Art Society as well. In this class, we’ll loosen up, let go of perfection and create wonderfully wonky mid-century illustrations through five different exercises. You can follow along traditionally with markers and pen, or digitally in Procreate. You’ll find the full class in the Classroom, ready to purchase and watch whenever you like.
