If you will, please check out my website. Tell me what you think. If any links are broken. If anything looks messy, or loading weird on your screen. Is it taking a long time to load pages? Anything else you think. I'm several months out of publishing my book, it's being illustrated still. While this page is live, I haven't shared it yet. Literalguides.com

@Julie Broad #1 goal, develop authority. Show people how I approach topics directly, and how my book won't be like the others. My first book is a non-graphic, straightforward, values-neutral "sex education" book that focuses highly on social emotional skills and an understanding of families having different values — why this topic is private instead of "just don't, that's inappropriate". It can be a hot topic, so that's why I prefer to stay anon at least until I get an idea of the emotional temperature of the audience. I'm very Google-able.

@Julie Broad well, my bad. Owen pointed out I literally didn't even put a name in the about the author section either. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I've written it so many times in so many places 😵‍💫 added it to the home page also. Thank you for for looking and your input! I changed the pathways too. Hopefully its more clear. Excellent advice.
Starting from scratch
Ok, for those of you starting with no followers or audience: how do you manage social media posts without feeling silly? I mean, I can offer FB live or polls, but who's going to participate? I know we all start somewhere, but I feel ridiculous marketing and promoting to an empty room. Any tips from those who've built a large following? Is it just a case of fake it till you make it?

I'm about to launch mine. I have a plan. Once I figure out which bank I'ma use for this business 😅 But - • I have my introduction post. • Posts to share the blogs I've made. I made 12 to start with. Scheduled release dates. • At the 3rd blog I have a (hopefully) useful download to get some emails for the download & build authority via the download. • I have another (hopefully) use freebie.. haven't made a blog post for it yet though. So.. I just plan to share some revelant some cold. Maybe boost a post or run a small ad for the freebie. Book won't launch for a few months.
Banking
Any particular bank you've used for your books that you have had good experience with? I just walked into one and they didn't seem very understanding of primarily online business. Maybe I'm just a techy person but I need: - Access to virtual card numbers (several one time use cards) - Not Capital One, US Bank, or PenFed (I already have accounts with them and I keep my eggs in separate baskets) - Preferably not a FinTech Company (IE- not a bank, but advertised as a bank)

Help Me Test Drive My Process
Hello friends! As my book moves into the design phase, I’m starting to build my email list and gently introduce it to future readers. To do that, I’ve created a lead magnet that includes:• A sample chapter• A behind-the-scenes look at how the book was developed• A feel for my overall writing style I also write regularly on my blog, and this is part of helping people experience the voice before the book officially launches. Here’s my ask:Would you be willing to sign up, read the sample chapter, and share your honest first impressions? Your feedback will help me refine both the content and the reader experience. Here's the link I truly appreciate the support. Thank you so much.

To be clear — Are you asking, "if this is the first thing on my page would you be willing to sign up?" Or sending us to a specific page, that is not the first page of the website, with the intention of us reading what is received after sign up?
Quick Question for the Non-Fiction Authors Here 👋📚
Writing a book is one thing… Turning it into a real author business is another. I’m curious — Where are you currently stuck in your journey? • Writing / finishing the manuscript? • Editing & structuring the book properly? • Publishing process confusion? • Marketing & getting readers? • Building authority or platform? Sometimes the hardest part isn’t talent it’s clarity. Drop where you are right now (or your biggest challenge). Let’s learn from each other. And if you’ve already overcome a stage, feel free to share what helped you someone here might need it 👇

1) I wrote an Illustrated the book on Canva 2) I had it printed at a local shop for personal use 3) I was talked into trying to publish 4) I created a Manuscript (backwards, I know) 5) Started phase 1 with an Illustrator, since it is Illustrated, and that's a core feature 6) Created a website 7) Got my EIN, and applied for LLC to separate this from my personal life (it's a sensitive topic) Right now, I'm just working on my website, making blogs to schedule to release. Waiting for the LLC stuff and the illustrator to get back to me. I still need to: • build authority • format/ structure the book. Can't do that without the illustration. • create my marketing plan and market Am I missing anything? My biggest struggle I believe will be marketing. All my ad ideas will apparently be rejected 🙄

@Noah Steveson who? Primarily for parents with neurodivergant literal thinking kids ages 9-13. But I can't say that, because when literal thinking kids see "9-13" and they are not in that age range it sends a different message. Primarily gives them an understanding of what's is happening, why it's happening, so they can understand why certain behaviors and conversations are inappropriate, and how to navigate conversations around the topics. Without going in the weeds with unnecessary, confusing information. Why me? Probably the one I struggle with the most. I guess because I have a neurodivergent kid I couldn't find a resource that fit, so I made one, and feel like it would benefital to share. To bring people in, I feel like I'll need ads. Hopefully I can build organically from there, once I have a foundational audience. I'm working on some freebies to offer to bring some in.
