Watch time hours!!!! Unlisted = Hours Lost
Watch time from unlisted videos will no longer count towards the 4,000 public watch hours required for YouTube monetization, even if those hours were accumulated when the video was public. Once a video is unlisted or made private, the watch hours it contributed while public are removed from the total counted toward monetization eligibility.

@Alexa Saarenoja Hey, I'm not sure that is actually accurate about the number of videos, in your example it would only show 70 based on what I'm seeing. You see, I just relaunched my channel about 8 weeks ago and I had a few hundred videos talking about technology. I had a little over 1K subs. I unlisted everything and have been doing 2 videos as week and it shows @HowdyChad - 1.16K subscribers - 16 videos. That said, I'm not sure if it was a good plan to repurpose my original channel (vids were mostly around outdated tech) or start a new one. I opted to use the 1K subscribers and hoped YouTube would figure out my new target by not promoting my videos to my subscribers. Still, I've had about 10 people unsubscribe and 10 new subscribers. Curious your thoughts on this. Thanks!
Here to accelerate!
Super excited to be here at the early stages of Alexa's YouTube journey and with so many others looking to accelerate our growth on YouTube. I was a custom software development consultant for a long time. About 14 years ago I started my own company. I've done a ton of stuff, but only stuck with a few things for the long haul. Have you ever experienced shiny object syndrome? 😅 In the last few months, I switched my focus to move out of software consulting and to actually coach consultants and other service pros. Basically, helping those that are like I was a few years ago - putting in 80-to-100-hour weeks, working too hard. Have you ever been distracted when you were with your family thinking about all of the things you had to get done, and then when you were actually working feeling guilty about not being with your family? That was my life for DECADES. I got a handle on it and figured out true fulfillment. So, now I'm on a mission to help as many worn out service pros as I can so they can have the freedom and fulfillment they desire. I'm growing my YouTube channel to provide as much value as I can. I consider it my community service. Some will desire to work with me closer to get results faster, but I'm here for any service-based business owner looking to stop owning a job and start owning a business instead. 💪 I've committed to doing 2 long form (8 to 20 minute) videos every week for 5 years. I'm focusing on inputs and expecting the outcomes to take care of themselves. With that said, I'm looking at analytics and attempting to improve at least one thing in every video. Anyone else crazy enough that has committed to 2 videos a week? Will be doing video # 14 tomorrow. 🎙️

@Elna C. Wow, very busy indeed. Glad you have nailed down to only work certain hours. Do you utilize a virtual assistant or other team members to get it all done?

@Susan Davis Thank you!
How do you handle viewcount below 100 emotionally?
I just uploaded my first video on my second channel. I am starting two channels at the same time (I know it is a bit crazy). My cooking channel's first video did fine I think, but I am a bit worried about this channel first video as it is a "talking head" video about starting youtube over 40... We will see. I have seen many new channels with 1-60 subscribers that their similar videos haven't got many views either, so I guess I shouldn't be too hard on myself if I won't get 50 views... How are you all handle the beginner's stuggle with view numbers below 100? How do you avoid to getting discouraged?

The key to me is to focus on inputs and not outcomes. All work works. Even if it doesn't produce the outcome I desired, it worked on me in some way. Focus is just to get better each time. Most of my 13 videos are all under 50 views currently, but that isn't discouraging because I envision it as if all those viewers were in a room with me while I gave a speech. The second video I created, I actually talked about this as I made a commitment to create 2 videos a week for 5 years. Only way I could commit to that is if I was focused on the inputs (and trying to get better with each video) and not be focused on number of views or subscribers. My goal is to just continue to improve and listen for feedback. Congrats on taking action with your videos. Keep up the great work!

@Susan Davis Thanks! It is, but I'll keep on doing it and maybe by year 5 I'll be good at it. 😅
Climbing the YT mountain little by little...
Hey CBT, my channel https://www.youtube.com/@MamaSnout just reached over 3k views! Super excited and with the help of this community (I've been diving into the questions & feedback sections and learning so much) and @Alexa Saarenoja videos, I'm planning to shake things up on my channel. I'm stoked for the future and can't wait to jot down more wins😁

Excellent!
Monetized! Sort of.. Made my first $
Im not in the YPP (YouTube Partner Program) yet, but I was going to make a video about my way of doing keyword research and SEO with vidIQ, which requires a vidIQ subscription, so I thought it useful to first make a video explaining how to get vidIQ Boost for free (or nearly free) so people could try it without having to spend much up front. I figured that would be a good opportunity to squeeze in a vidIQ affiliate link, and at the very least earn a few $$$ to pay for my own vidIQ subscription every month. Well, after a few months the video is doing well and started getting a few conversions for the past couple months, but today is the first month that conversions surpassed the $10 minimum to trigger a payment from vidIQ! AMA if you want. I am an OG google SEO circa 2010-2015, but SEO and affiliate marketing on YouTube is new to me so... Please be careful what you ask.. And take to heart..
