Wet weather drills
Hi Everyone Can anyone give me any examples of what you do for wet weather drills. Its wet here in Qld right now, but the girls team obviously need to know how to play a different game in the wet weather as its not gong to be dry all the time. Any hints or tips on what some of you experienced coaches do would be great.

Hi @Shane McDonnell Only just saw this post but one drill I do with my boys I coach is called the southern star. I'll attach the rough picture that I've drawn on the phone but it basically has 4 groups on the out side (marked X) and 4 on the inside (marked O). The group O only has one person on the cone with the rest spread out evenly between the X group. The ball starts at the out side which is rolled along the ground towards group O (Yellow line). Who picks it up off the ground and hand balls to the group X at 90° to them (Blue line). That person then rolls it along the ground to the next group who does the eact same thing to the next group, the exercise keeps going on in that same direction. Person goes to the group where they gave the ball to. You can go clockwise then anti clockwise after a bit or vice versa. It's a good way to get the kids to learn to put their body behind the ball and to pick it up off the ground because that's where most people will pick it up from if it's wet as the ball will slip more often than not. To make it easy when you start get them to roll the ball in nicely so it should go pretty straight to help them get the use of it. If you have the numbers you can chuck in multiple balls so they have to be switched on to what's happening around them. Hope this makes sense mate

I have just put together The Exact 4-Week Schedule to Build Explosive Athleticism Without Overtraining, and would like your feedback on it. So I will give it to you for free if you are willing to tell me what you think of it, and are one of the first 5 people to comment "yes please" below. Best regards Josh

Would love to see a torp tutorial! Even the other type of kicks from bananas to dribblers through the goals.

Also maybe what you do/how you block out the noise when having set shots on goals. I think that would help some younger kids focus on their kick at goals when they are trying to establish a routine that works for them.

Hi @Kate Gallasch last year (Novemberish) my young bloke went to it over here at WA so not sure if it's the same where you are? Nerves were a big one for my kid as they had a few different age groups going at the same time so when he came up against bigger older kids, I think it got into his head when he couldn't jump as high as kids that we're 2+ years older than him. Everything Josh said above is spot on 👌 the only thing I'll add is make sure they run all the way through the end of the cones before slowing up, especially the 20m sprint. I saw a few kids pull up before they were through the 20m cone so that drastically affected their times. Also get them to have a look at how the yo-yo test works and make sure they understand it. Pretty sure they start at level 17.1 and if they missed the first bit then they cut them pretty quick due to the high number of kids doing it. A few kids didnt understand it and got cut pretty quick.
Where are you from?
Hi all, I hope you had a great festive period! Looking to get to know you all and allow you to connect with each other... so comment below what city/town you're from!
