And focused instead on slowing down, creating JOY in your life, and supporting your nervous system in feeling super safe and nourished? This might seem like a strange thing to say for someone who literally runs a community all about letting go of excess weight! But seriously…if you are miserable in your life, moving too quickly, and your nervous system doesn’t feel safe, that excess weight isn’t going anywhere, not for long anyway. You can brute force your way to letting go of a few pounds, but they’ll likely come right back on the minute a new stressor comes into your life. Ask me how I know? Yeah, you’re right, I totally did that for a few years. Tried to let go of weight when I was moving too quickly, disconnected from myself, living in fight/flight. I could lose some weight for a few weeks, but it would come right back on the minute something new or challenging happened. When I really allowed myself to slow down, connected daily with my emotions, and deeply nourished myself with consistent deep relaxation, that’s when everything shifted. The 70 pounds plus, it felt like it melted off without even that much effort when my nervous system finally felt safe. And rampant cortisol was no longer sabotaging all my efforts for letting go of weight. Insulin resistance was a piece of my puzzle as well. When I supported my body in managing both CORTISOL, the stress hormone, and INSULIN, the blood sugar hormone, my body became a fat burning machine.
