3 contributions to Freedom to Compose
What would you love to score? 🎼🎶
People who hire composers rarely browse the upload pile. They might look when a production’s about to start (maybe)... For many composers, they just want their music played They want their music heard. Tons of composers finish a score, upload it, and wait… and wait and wait . . . … For a stranger to find it. And there are plenty of sites for that. The thing is, like job hunting, people don’t post a CV and hope. They check the job listings. BUT for composers… there’s nowhere to check. We wanna flip the script and make Composers the PRIZE ! So here’s a thought I’m testing... If we could point you to live projects needing original music, an original score… Would that be worth hearing about? If you have the opportunity to score music for a project, What type of project would you love to create music for? Lemme know below 👇 👇 👇 Or If it’s “something else,” tell me in the comments. I’m deciding this week where to look first.

Writing for film and video games always seems cool, but I am mostly drawn to band writing. Jazz, wind band, chamber brass, etc.
What are you listening to? 🎶
What have you been listening to? Any gems? Any new finds? Any inspirations? Share below👇 I've randomly been really into this piece by Sibelius https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrrtL5rl5io&list=RDHrrtL5rl5io&start_radio=1

Got turned on to Petey USA not too long ago. He has a song called We Go on Walks. Lots of juxtaposition between screaming with a cracking voice and then gentle vocals, lots of contrast. But my favorite part is this occasional synth bass note that is unnecessarily loud. It reminds me of stuff like when Grainger has musical outbursts in the middle of a piece.
👀 START HERE: Welcome! 🎼💰
Welcome, friend. You found the place. Let me tell you what this is, because it's not another theory group. There are a thousand places on the internet to learn orchestration, mixing, and which strings library to buy next. This is not one of them! Your music is (probably) already good enough to start. That might be the most controversial sentence in this whole community. This is a place for taking action and finding your Freedom to Compose. Where music gets the best hours of your day, the right people actually hear it, and yes, it rewards you back. 🎼 Whether that means full time, part time, or just a good time. All three count here. Around here we believe gigs come from relationships, not job boards. That composers get connected, not discovered. And that "exposure" is something you die from on a mountain, not a payment method. And that the whole thing, outreach and all, can actually be FUN! Who this is for: Composers who want their music out in the world, their first real gig, or their next substantial one... And are willing to talk to actual humans to get it! Who this is NOT for: Hobbyists collecting courses... Theory debaters... And anyone waiting to feel ready. No shame in any of those. This just isn't the room. Now do three things before you do anything else 👇 1. Say howdy below and tell us where in the world you're writing from. I read every single one! Welcome aboard, you filthy little composer, you. Let's get your music out of the hard drive and into the world. Luke

Hello, I’m in Arlington, TX. My entire music room is kinda shoved in a storage unit and odd corners due to some home repairs… But there was sketch of a melody for a beginner band piece that I turned out to not need, a tuba quartet that of Sugar Plum Fairies that’s coming along, and me attempting to make a lead sheet from my high school garage band into a big band chart. A Mike Tomaro book, a Rick Rubins book, Inside the Score, and the Blazevich.
