๐ŸŽƒ Celebrate National Pumpkin Day โ€” Grow Your Own in Containers!
Pumpkins arenโ€™t just for carving and pies โ€” theyโ€™re also a surprisingly fun crop for container gardeners! With the right setup, you can grow your very own mini pumpkins right on your patio or balcony. Go for small or dwarf pumpkins โ€” like Jack Be Little, Baby Boo, or Sugar Pie. These varieties are ideal for containers and still pack plenty of autumn charm. ๐Ÿชด ๐๐ข๐œ๐ค ๐š ๐๐ข๐  ๐„๐ง๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก ๐๐จ๐ญ Pumpkins need space for roots to stretch. โœ… Use at least a 15โ€“20 gallon container (about the size of a half whiskey barrel). โœ… Make sure it has excellent drainage. ๐ŸŒž๐†๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐“๐ก๐ž๐ฆ ๐’๐ฎ๐ง & ๐’๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ Pumpkins love full sun โ€” aim for 6โ€“8 hours daily. If youโ€™re short on space, guide vines up a trellis or let them spill artfully over the container edge. Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy. Feed with a balanced organic fertilizer or compost tea every couple of weeks. ๐Ÿ‚ ๐‡๐š๐ซ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ & ๐„๐ง๐ฃ๐จ๐ฒ Once the rinds turn deep orange and the stems dry out, theyโ€™re ready! Use your homegrown pumpkins for dรฉcor, pie filling, or roasted seeds โ€” the ultimate garden-to-table moment. ๐Ÿงก ๐…๐ฎ๐ง ๐…๐š๐œ๐ญ: Container-grown pumpkins often ripen earlier than in-ground ones, making them perfect for fall displays!

My snake plant I love
We Did It โ€” Gardeners in All 50 States! Now Letโ€™s Grow Together!
Weโ€™ve officially bloomed in every state across the country! ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŽ‰The Potted Garden Society now has members in all 50 states โ€” from sunny patios in California to cozy porches in Maine. This is such a proud moment for our growing garden family โ€” and itโ€™s just the beginning. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’š What does this mean for you? It means thereโ€™s likely a fellow container gardener in your state โ€” someone whoโ€™s dealing with the same weather patterns, growing the same seasonal plants, or maybe even shopping at the same garden center! Now we want to help YOU connect with fellow gardeners in your own area! ๐Ÿ‘‰ Weโ€™ve just launched a new category: โ€œGardeners Near Meโ€. Inside, youโ€™ll find (or can start!) a thread just for your state or region. Itโ€™s a space to: - Swap tips on your local weather and planting timelines ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ - Recommend nurseries, soil mixes, or garden centers ๐ŸŒผ - Share photos of whatโ€™s growing near you ๐Ÿชด - Organize casual meetups, seed swaps, or coffee chats โ˜• - Just say hello to a nearby green thumb ๐Ÿ‘‹ ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Want to see whoโ€™s around you? Use the Member Map (top center of our page) to zoom in and see fellow gardeners within 10โ€“15 miles. ๐ŸŽฏ Your next step: ๐Ÿชด Start a state-specific thread in the group if there isn't one started yet. Use the "[Your State] Gardeners" format in the title so others from your area can find and join the conversation easily! (EX: Kentucky Gardeners) ๐Ÿค Organize or ask about local seed swaps, plant cuttings, or meetups. Even a casual coffee chat at a local nursery could spark new friendships. ๐Ÿ“ธ Post photos of whatโ€™s growing in your containers this month. Tag your region or state โ€” itโ€™s fun to see whatโ€™s thriving where! ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ Talk weather! Share what's blooming and what challenges you're facing โ€” frost warnings, heat waves, or surprise blooms. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Share regional gardening tips and suppliers. Favorite nurseries, soil blends that work best locally, deals on pots โ€” all are gold for local gardeners! ๐Ÿ‘‰ Together, weโ€™ll grow deeper roots โ€” not just as gardeners, but as a nationwide community connected by soil, seeds, and a whole lot of passion. ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฟ
