Need New Gloves
My Everlast Elite gloves died after 6 months. Been getting way more into boxing lately so I wanna grab a solid pair of bag gloves + sparring gloves that wonโ€™t die on me. What do yโ€™all recommend? Iโ€™m thinking about grabbing the Rival RB10s. Lmk what youโ€™re using

I use venom, I recommend Rivals, flys or adidas eh its what i prefer. I dont recommend RDX as when i previously got them, the were bigger than my hand but still super duper tight even after wearing them out. Everlast just is not as great quality as it used to be, they are the beginner brand i believe. Rivals got i think the most dope sparring gloves. but atm i just use my venom gloves for both. they 14oz, Please use minimum 14oz in your spars.

First Real spar!!
So i ran 3 miles sunday and went to instagram found some boxers kinda close that go to another gym i asked if they would mind boxing a newbie for experience and we met up same second, these are the rounds im very disappointed in my ability to throw shots back after defending idk couldnโ€™t find range but first time actually slipping and dodging/ blocking punches was soo cool gotta learn how to absorb impact and move lateral so i dont give up the close range i fight for and gotta use my jab alottttt more

I'm going to assume your are with the red headgear with the baggy t-shirt. 1.First Spar - Please Punch with intention, Instead of it just Hitting your opponent, aim for it to go through or hurt your opponent. - If the First Jab does not hit then move forward to where your range would allow your next jab to be behind their head. This will help you better on closing the distance with the jab. - Short Combinations. (Going to body or head or both) - Keep Inside Shots for Inside like close hooks and uppercuts. (you can wait for them to come inside or you can go inside). - Often when the opponent is taller they tend to abuse their straights a lot more, if they are aggressive, keep moving your angle and don't be scared to make them waste their energy, though this is abet risky. - If the opponent is passively jabbing, keep a good flow of head movement so that you don't keep it off centre, this will also increase your shot selection as you can roll or slip with some shots. - In & Out, Go in through 3-4 punches max, Get out with a movement, Rinse and Repeat. - Also when you are blocking, try to block with the same side like you are mirroring, this will allow for less counters from your opponent compared to if your block diagonally. - I get that your trying to do philly shell but at least have the hand or hands that's up close to your chin or cheek, its not worth taking free shots to the head when they can be stopped. - Your Chin and Temple will knock you heavily off balanced if u receive a hard shot to these areas. - You are looking down when rolling (Bobbing and Weaving). Please keep some kind of watch on your opponent, im taught to keep my head up as if you drop your head you wont see any shots coming and make yourself vulnerable. - Air Punches(Hands leave face but dont even hit opponent), Don't throw these even if u call them feints, it just wastes energy and leaves you vulnerable. - Change Rotation (Puts opponent off balance as moving in one rotation makes it easier for the other person to jab more) - Don't move head outside of leg range, will make you off balance. - Change patterns moving laterally with footwork (your your both moving clockwise, go counter clockwise etc) - Try pivoting in your spars, step to their side with your lead leg, pivot then throw or same thing but step back, it can be used offensively and defensively.

At the end of a boxing session
What should I do at the end of a boxing session? I thought of push ups and some other muscular workouts but I already do calisthenics on the other days in the week.

Very Late Reply by me sorry for that. Often at the end of a boxing session in the gym i goto we do 3 rounds of circuits without break 10 repetitions each exercise each time: Circuit 3X: Leg Circles (Left/Right) 10 each Hands by side Press ups with claps V sits Burpees (Jump + Pressups) Squat Jumps Mountain Climbers (2 Knee = 1 rep) Tuck Jumps Walk out press ups (Dont Stand) Rows (Knees to chest) Russian Twists (legs off floor, keep try hold them in one spot). Press ups are pushups You will sweat alot from this so have a towel or something next to you!
Boxing sparring after 2 months of training
Just tell me how I did and if any advice, basically I have been training muay thai since 2 months. My coach entered me into a spar with a takewondo guy who had been doing muay thai since 2 years. I'm 75kg 16 he is 60kg 21. What should I focus on? I understand as I am really new to the game everything is shit but any specifics would be a great help. Also my coach put me into a wushu sanda fight it's on the 15th, districts. He said it's for raw experience and my weight class is 70-75kg and age category is under 17 so I expect really low people to walk around at 75kg at the age of 16 in a place like India

Are you the Guy in red? Is this a Boxing or Muay thai gym, i see there aren't kicks being thrown but it would still be good to know. To be honest, i don't think holding the lead hand out is a great idea especially as your new because its easy to counter. If you want to keep range please jab from your guard to keep range. Lets say for instance you want to get inside range, a simple double jab will do, if the first does not connect try and hit with the second one but be close enough to where your forearm/elbow could reach the head of the opponent, sounds very close but its very helpful. Keep your guard up, you kept dropping your guard and it will make it easy for someone to do damage or score points. Also try and get a rotation going, with your lead foot on the outside of the opponents lead foot (if they are orthodox). If you get overly pressured, dont drop your hands no matter what do you, Even fully guarding is better than that, make it a last resort. Oh also when your punching, punch with intent, meaning punch to hit them, dont punch to not hit them as this also wastes energy overtime. The three lines of defense in boxing involve: 1) Footwork and range, moving out of range to avoid punches, 2) Head and body movement like slipping, rolling, and ducking to evade incoming shots, 3) Blocking and parrying with hands and gloves as a last resort when evasion fails Please Checkout Atikos basics video and Flow Video.
