"I just want to do things right"
#Mistake 3: Overthinking What a Course Is This is without a doubt one of my biggest mistakes. And the worst part is that it's the kind of mistake where you can stay forever thinking that you just want to do things right.

Core Task - Introduction module
#Core Task - What advice would you give to your younger self from 5 years ago? This may not be a popular opinion, but I wouldn't give any advice to my younger self from 5 years ago. It's true that I have learned a lot during this time, but I think the real learning is not my conclusions, but the experiences themselves. Now, if we talk about my younger self of 10 years ago, that would be a totally different story ;-). - Ten years from now, what would that version of yourself be disappointed by? Giving up too soon. Not doing something I enjoy. Not continuing to learn. Not making time for things other than work. - If you keep doing what you are about to do today for the next five years, will you end up with more of what you want or less of what you want? Probably more, but not quite enough. - Does what you’re currently doing represent what you’re capable of doing? It represents the moment I'm at, but I'm certainly capable of more.

@Caroline Rocha Thank you, Caroline! I love the "planning less and enjoying more" ;-).
Making $1 in the next 7 days
#Core task 1 Since I don't have an audience to sell to yet, I'm thinking of something for my current students. It could be a sort of challenge of asynchronous tasks for the upcoming vacation period. Probably something that prioritizes oral production and only takes them a few minutes a day (with extension options for those who want more).

@Andrew Woodbury I created the offer, and it didn't sell, but I loved the process and learned a few things. I announced it in the newsletter I have for my students and included it in a list of Black Friday discount resources I recommended. Some people were interested and inquired, but said there were so many options that they had a hard time choosing one (lesson #1). Although I mentioned it in the text, several of those people weren't sure if it was a product of mine; in other words, I wasn't clear enough about it (lesson #2). I also did not ask the students with whom I had classes those days what their thoughts were for fear of being too pushy, but I realize that they may not have read it, or needed a reminder, or had questions that I did not give them a chance to clarify (lesson #3). Nevertheless, I think it was important to try and face the idea of selling. I will take what I learned to continue implementing and testing.

@Tony Brown Thank you very much, Tony. I certainly hope so!
Differences in Clientele?
$15/hour student: “Can I send you 15 installments? Actually, do you offer free classes first? By the way, what do you offer me if I don’t like your teaching style?" $150/hour student: “Just paid 10 classes in full. Thanks.” Why do you think this is? What's your experience with this?

So true! I haven't had a single well-paying student give me trouble, but when I've undercharged, I've gotten major headaches (by the bucketload!).
Favorite type of student vs. Niche
#Overcoming Lack of a Niche My favorite type of student is one who wants to do intellectually stimulating things in the language and is not obsessed with accuracy. In my experience, they are more consistent people, maintain motivation and quickly see progress. The thing is, this involves working one on one, which I love, but it's not scalable. That's why I've targeted a niche where I see a clear need and where existing solutions are not optimal. I hope to validate (or not) the market soon.

@Susan Davis Hello, Susan. Sorry for the delay in responding; it's been a complicated month for me. I really appreciate your comment. It has made me stop and think. For now, I'm still at a loss for ideas on how to group them. The students I've worked with have such varied interests that, so far, I've focused on supporting them in their projects (creating podcasts... fitness programs... studying film adaptations...) and scaffolding the process so that learning Spanish happens as a by-product. I'm going to keep thinking about it and, as @Leonardo Gomes and @Andrew Woodbury say, try to identify what needs or problems I can help solve.
