Hey there! I’ve posted a collection of smaller pieces that I have created over the last 2 years basically, with the two pet portraits being completed within the last week. Ever since leaving high school, I have struggled with creating art and really being involved with any of my other interests. I think I was severely burnt out after high school. I slowly have been trying to recover from the burn out as well as some mental health stuff, but I noticed an increase in productivity when I got into nature journaling at a state park job 2 years back. Since then, I’ve been sketching more and painting small watercolors here and there but nothing major. The two dog portraits you see are the biggest things I have completed in a long while and I am very proud of that. I am hoping this is going a step in the right direction! I mainly use watercolors and the subjects are generally floral and fauna. I love nature and love learning everything relation to one another within it. I’m wondering what patterns y’all see within these pieces and/or something I should try and bring out more/lessen? Let me know if you are interested in seeing my nature journaling sketches too. Maybe there are hidden patterns in those as well I could bring out?
Definitely a style in the works, I’m noting these little speckles/floaties. They really give me a sense of something mystical, making me feel that you see wonder in nature, as well as the piece that has the galaxies in circular frames
I’d like to share the cover for my second comic! The pencils and inks are officially finished, and now it’s time for the coloring to bring it all to life. It’s been a blast watching this one come together, and I’m excited to share each step of the journey with you. Now I want to turn the spotlight over to all of you—what are you working on? Whether it’s comics, illustrations, paintings, writing, or any other creative project, I’d love to see your works in progress. Drop them in the comments and let’s celebrate making art together!
Personally I don’t think this piece needs more line work, there is a lot going on and the water color technique is solid… I think line work would look good on your flowers, take a flower piece and push line In it
Hey artists I’m almost done putting together a free course on artist mindset. As an art teacher I’ve seen so many talented artists burn out or give up and it seems like a waste of potential, passion, and purpose. I’ve also seen some artists just get stuck, with art block, motivation issues or over comparison. This course will have some videos, handouts, and action steps to get you back in the right head space. I’m shooting for the end of the week to have it uploaded for you to go through at your own pace. In the meantime post your current piece and let’s give each other some feedback and support Peace Ben ( Mr. Henry)
real talk, lmk in the comments or create your own post. Is it artist block, motivation, lack of clarity, no time, burn out, something else? What’s missing in your art right now. We are here to share, discuss, and grow
I am really happy with the results of this painted Magic card, but I really struggled to recreate the iridescence of the snake skin. Anyone have tips on painting something like that?
I see you already put yellow and magenta on the highlights, I think of you did some light blues and light purples where the light transitions towards the shadows
