Google Next 2024: Navigating the AI-Driven Future of Technology
Disclaimer: You may see this post in multiple communities with the same or different focus. This is been done only with the positive intention of sharing the knowledge with broader audience but not creating spam posts with ill intentions. As an esteemed industry professional, I had the privilege of attending Google Next 2024 in Las Vegas, where I not only participated as a visitor but also delivered a breakout session showcasing a successful IoT device security service case study. This conference proved to be an invaluable platform for exploring the cutting-edge advancements reshaping the technology landscape. The event primarily revolved around three pivotal themes: Generative AI Developments, Cloud and Cyber Security, and Increasing AI Adoption. Let's delve deeper into each area and unravel the insights that will shape the future of our industry. Generative AI Developments: At the forefront of innovation, Google unveiled new and more powerful AI-accelerated computing resources through strategic partnerships with industry giants like Intel, AMD, Nvidia, and others. These collaborations have led to the availability of managed services for the public and closed previews, paving the way for unprecedented computational capabilities. One of the standout highlights was the Confidential Computing concept, which addresses critical concerns around data exfiltration and privacy. In this groundbreaking approach, all computing resources, including Storage, CPU, GPU, and Memory, are configured to run fully encrypted, ensuring that underlying hypervisors and hardware components remain blind to unencrypted data. Moving away from generic GPT systems or chatbots, the industry is witnessing a shift towards specialized and focused AI bots or copilots. Leveraging mechanisms like RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), these advanced implementations will be more specialized, reducing the risk of hallucination and delivering more accurate and tailored responses. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to visit the booths of several partner companies working on security-related solutions. Their efforts in introducing AI usage for pre-processing SIEM data feeds and application logs more efficiently were truly impressive, promising to significantly reduce the time required for triage and issue resolution.

Research Assistant
I wanted to share with you my research assistant. My goal is to run it every week and create input for a weekly newsletter around cybersecurity. I am still working on it, but the results are promising. **Context** The task involves gathering the latest news in the fields of cybersecurity, information security management, and privacy. This information is targeted at Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and professionals working in cybersecurity, with an emphasis on content that is actionable, increases awareness of new threats, and is relevant to the European market. **Language** The language should be formal and professional, as it is intended for CISOs and cybersecurity professionals. The summaries should be concise and informative, delivering key insights efficiently. **Expectation** The outcome should include three headlines that encapsulate the most recent, relevant, and actionable cybersecurity news, with a focus on the European market. Each headline should be accompanied by a brief summary, a call to action and a link to the source of information. **Actions** 1. Search for the latest news in cybersecurity, information security management, and privacy with relevance to the European market. 2. Select three pieces of news that are actionable, provide awareness of new threats, and are of interest to cybersecurity professionals. 3. For each selected news piece, create a headline that summarizes the key point in a compelling and informative manner. 4. Write a brief summary for each news piece, focusing on its relevance and implications for the target audience. 5. Add a call to action, explaining why this information is important and suggest next steps. 6. Provide the source link for each news piece, ensuring the sources are credible and professional. **Restrictions** - Avoid topics not directly related to cybersecurity, information security management, or privacy. - Ensure that the news is recent, ideally from the last few days or weeks, to maintain relevance and timeliness for the newsletter.

This prompt is way beyond my imagination. And it works quite well in perplexity.
The Biggest Problem I have with AI
I have a massive problem, maybe someone or a group of people can help me solve this problem. I am great at what i do, which is I get Ai to do what i want it to do mainly via Prompting and creating custom GPTs Occasionally I sell some of these services to people who reach out to me. This is all fine but my big problem is : HOW CAN I PROPERLY MONETIZE MY PRODUCTS AND SERVICES Everywhere I go and all the products and services (in the Ai Space) which i have purchased to get an idea of what others are selling, quite frankly most are below par meaning they are mediocre and do not really help anyone in anyway. That being said these guys are making good money from below average products. Do i also make below average products / services and just spend most of my time on marketing or do i play the long game make good products and let them win on merit? I am very conflicted in my thoughts, does anyone have any way out of this madness?

Hi @Art Malik, I have seen that you have no problem with AI from what I have read in your post. You are missing the point of creating a value offer. To be able to achieve that, you should be addressing an audience and define a problem or a pain point without an effective solution. Then you can create a value offer with your AI competence and skills. If you ask me how I can see this because I am struggling with a similar case on my expertise field and also I am leveraging AI to address this shortcoming. I am feeling that most of us in this community is struggling the same thing in one way or another. In case I discover a prescription or formula for myself that works for me, I will shout out to this community.
Perverse Incentives
I recently discovered the "Perverse Incentive" concept, which is both interesting and shocking. It's about how good ideas can lead to bad results. These incentives actually harm the goals they're meant to support. Here’s a closer look: Perverse incentives are more than just good intentions failing; they show flaws in our thinking. For example, a city wanted to reduce traffic by promoting carpooling, hoping for fewer cars on the streets. But this backfired: More people bought cars to join carpooling, worsening traffic and pollution, defeating the purpose. This shows every action can trigger unexpected outcomes. The city's mistake was in not fully understanding travel habits, the attraction to owning a car, and trying a simple fix for a complex issue. What can we learn? Perverse incentives remind us to: - Think about the wider impact of our actions. - Avoid easy fixes for complicated problems. - Keep evaluating and adjusting our methods. This applies to environmental efforts, business practices, and personal choices. For instance, some environmental actions can accidentally cause more pollution. In business, goals meant to increase efficiency might lead to dishonest behavior if not well-monitored. And personally, aiming for quick benefits can harm long-term success. Perverse incentives teach us to critically assess and improve our methods. When setting incentives, it’s vital to anticipate and avoid missteps with our goals. Success comes from not just good intentions but wise, comprehensive planning. We should take lessons from past mistakes and promote smart decision-making. To deal with complex cause-and-effect relationships, we need thoughtful analysis and action. It's important to focus on both intentions and their actual impacts. Let's use history to create incentives that match our goals.

Great article. It has reminded me the famous phrase of "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" which sometimes happen unfortunately.
