DP-700 Exam Thoughts
Yesterday, I took the new DP-700 exam (see yesterday's post here) ... here are some of my initial thoughts: - Overall, I really liked the exam, and the content. - It's a thorough test of someone's skills and knowledge in data engineering on the Fabric platform. - It tests your end-to-end knowledge and decision-making ability, especially around how different Fabric services interact with each other into a coherent solution (compared with the DP-600, which I felt was lots of questions from previous certs joined into one) - The required depth of your knowledge of SQL, Python/ PySpark and KQL is higher than DP-600. - There will be less chance to 'blag it' with this exam (i.e. people attempting the exam without practical experience and trying to pass), which is a good thing. If you're completely new to Fabric/ Data Engineering, I would probably not recommend taking the exam in this first voucher cycle, because it would require a LOT of effort on your part, and you still might not gain the required level of experience/ knowledge. With DP-600, it was more possible, DP-700 would be harder. Some topics I would like the DP-700 to cover, but it doesn't (to any real depth): - data quality & code quality (core skill for data engineers in 2025) - trusted workspace access/ managed private endpoints/ service principals - all those things vitally important for data engineers in the real world. From this point, this is my focus: - Preparing the second Live Study Session for the DP-700 Bootcamp in Fabric Dojo - if you want to sign up - now is a good time, because the pricing will be going up at end of January. - Preparing the first video for the YouTube series - hoping to start releasing on YouTube this week! Any questions about DP-700 exam? Let me know, happy to help πŸ‘‡

@Will Needham one more question, if you dont mind me asking, last week I started the trial just to check out the fabric, but I understand it lasts only 3 months. Do Microsoft extend trial, I saw some people posting about it and in your case you were able to extend for a year. Is it case for everyone? Thank you
Problems starting a new Fabric Free Trial (an update)
I am hearing a few of you have had problems recently starting new Fabric Free Trials, following the method to create an Azure account, and use that to create your Fabric free trial. This approach used to work well, until roughly a week ago. My understanding is that Microsoft have made some changes, so that now you cannot create a fabric free trial from accounts less than 90 days old - effectively putting a stop to gaining access to Fabric in this way. I'm currently in talks with Microsoft about this - specifically the PM who looks after the Trial/ Onboarding experience - so when I have some advice/ a way forward, I will of course share that with you all!

@Will Needham I have accidentally started my free trial account one week ago but now I will be on vacation for a month. Is there any way to uncancel or extend after 3 months?

Real time project Ideas to become pro in Fabric
Hello Folks, I am new to Fabric, I have attended Fabric Analyst in a day, Dp 600 training from Microsoft, watched YouTube videos. Now I feel the real need to work on a project to build end to end solution to become expert in Fabric. Does anyone have any project ideas which includes the end to end CI/CD project and Power BI. I have recently started my Fabric trial unknowingly, now I need to use it within next 55 days. So any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
