Hey guys! I wanted to start posting on here to share the things that I'm trying to improve and where I'm starting from. I took a *small* part of Elian's choreo from this past week and am focusing on 1. Not keeping my neck/head so stiff 2. Posture 3. Arm movement fluidity 4. Smiling 5. Being tighter in my movements 6. My stamina Things that I don't like in the video are: 1. My transitions are rigid 2. My levels change a lot 3. My shimmy is weak and I should use my arms more in it rather than keep them stiff I'll keep posting new insights and things that i see and don't like so we can learn together.

Thank you for sharing this! 🙌 This is how dancers grow! Keep documenting. We are building from the inside out here! Here’s some pointers I think that can help, For posture: focus on lifting the sternum and lengthening the back of the neck, let the head follow the upper spine. Think breathe from the spine. Keep belly button over your feet so you are fully transferring your weight from your center when you are stepping your basic. Keep your weight on the balls of your feet, so you can push off the balls of your feet to transfer weight (especially on 6). For arms: your arms come from your back muscles. Make sure you are keeping your posture and allow the arms to become a consequence from your back. Open the elbow side to side motion instead of forward and back, and allow the ribcage motion to initiate the movement. Don’t allow your elbows to pass behind your body, keep it to the sides. Tightness and precision will come from fully transferring your weight as we talked about earlier. Level Changes: This is about pelvis stability. : - Lift through lower abdominals (belly button in, up and back) - Be careful not to straighten your knees, instead think “lengthen”. Always pass through the center, both knees pass through bent position to avoid the “bouncey” feel For the shimmy: Shimmy from the mid back, not from the hands. Overall, great observations and keep documenting your progress!
