How I get Sh*t done as an ADD entrepreneur
As some of you might know, I grew up with ADD, but only got diagnosed around age 21. That meant that during primary school and high school I struggled a lot with staying focused at school. But I didn't know why and I didn't know how to deal with the problem. I did okay in school, but it took a lot of effort, specifically for maths and science lessons. Today I am truly grateful for my ADD and the way my brain works, I have learned how to deal with it and how to optimise my day for maximum efficiency. I have 3 simple rules that I live by and that have helped my tremendously over the years to increase my productivity and enjoyment in everything I do. ๐Ÿญ) ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ฒ ๐—ถ๐˜ ๐—ณ๐˜‚๐—ป I genuinely hate doing admin work. But it's what keeps you in business, so even if you hate it, it still needs to be done. So one day I asked myself "How can I make this more fun?". So I put on my headphones and started playing some of my favourite Lord of The Rings and Harry Potter soundtracks in the background. There something about putting on headphones that allow me to block out distractions instantly and those soft, epic and magical tunes in the background that sweep me into flow state. I now have an 18 hour long playlist with all kinds of cinematic music and music from artists like Ludovico Einaudi, etc. ๐˜ This one speaks for itself and you might be thinking DUH. But you would be surprised at how often you get interrupted by random thoughts, other people, notifications, ... and how long it takes you to return to your flow state. Besides turning notifications off and letting people know that they can't disturb you, if for example you're wearing your headphones. One other cure for this is a concept that's called "Timeboxing". I've learned about timeboxing from Nir Eyal (writer of "Indistractable"). And it essentially says that you should do batch work as much as possible and at the right timing.

Definitely agree with 1. I specifically listen to instrumental versions of the songs (altho sometimes i end up thinking up the lyrics anyway) or classical music for sure. 2 is much harder and takes insane amount of patience (which i dont have yet) but, I'm working on it. 3 is something i need to start doing because its very easy to question 'what even is the point of it all' All in all, good tips :) I just need to consistently apply these in my life to see improvement.
Reflection Friday: Did you do your ONE thing?
Happy Friday, founders! Monday you committed. Today you tell the truth. Did you do it? Yes or no. No judgement, just data. Then, one line on what pattern you noticed in yourself this week. Drop it in the comments!

Momentum Mondays: What's your ONE thing this week?
Happy Monday, founders. New week, blank slate, and one question that matters more than anything else on your calendar: What is the ONE thing you're going to do this week that actually moves your business forward? Not your task list. Not the 14 things you could do. The ONE thing that if you did it, this week would count. Here's the rule I give my coaching clients: It has to be ONE thing. If you put three, you picked zero. It has to be specific enough that on Friday you can say "yes, I did that" or "no, I didn't." It should move your business toward revenue, not away from it. Drop yours in the comments. I'll read every one and reply. And if you're stuck picking, comment anyway and tell me what you're stuck on. That's where the real work starts. Let's go. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

@Bill Widmer That never stopped me. As long as I have space in my room I can do 10k steps :P I hope the weather clears out :)
๐Ÿ—“๏ธ MONDAY COMMITMENT THREAD
Happy Momentum Monday, Founders. ๐ŸŽ‰ Who hates Mondays? Not us. Because Mondays mean more MOMENTUM on the flywheel. Starting today - and every Monday - this is where we show up and put it on record. One thing. That's it. The ONE commitment you're making to yourself and this group every week that makes all other things unnecessary or irrelevant. Keep it specific enough that by Friday, you'll know whether you did it or not. Drop yours in the comments below. ๐Ÿ‘‡ I'll go first.

@Bill Widmer Hey looks like i finally figured out what two things I'll be focusing on 1. Reaching out to more small/local businesses and working on systems that help reduce manual work so they can focus more on growth 2. Take out some time to pursue my hobby (got a lot of reading to catchup to)
