Small win today ๐Ÿ™Œ
One of my clients actually increased my hours from 10/week to 20/week. Been working with them for 2 months doing inbox + calendar management. I didnโ€™t even askโ€ฆ they just said they trust me more now and want me handling more stuff. Just sharing this because consistency really does pay off. I used to think clients always try to pay less lol.

This genuinely made me tear up a little ๐Ÿ˜ญ I've been so focused on worrying about losing clients that I never really thought about the possibility of them actually wanting MORE from me. like that's the dream right? I've been with one of my clients for about 6 weeks now and honestly have no idea if she's happy or just tolerating me. posts like this remind me to just keep showing up consistently and trust the process even when it feels uncertain
Quick tip for anyone struggling with unclear client instructions:
If a task feels vague, donโ€™t just ask โ€œwhat do you mean?โ€ Instead, send a proposed approach. Example:โ€œJust to confirm, Iโ€™ll organize the inbox into 3 folders (urgent, follow-ups, low priority) and create templates for replies. Does that work?โ€ Clients LOVE when you reduce their thinking load. This one habit alone helped me retain clients longer.

This is such a good reframe I always just ask "what do you mean?" and then feel awkward waiting for the answer ๐Ÿ˜… never thought about sending a proposed approach instead. it makes so much sense though because it shows you're already thinking ahead for them rather than just asking them to do more work. going to try this with a task I got this morning that was super vague. feels like such a small change but I can see how it would change how clients see you completely
What skills do I need to start positioning as an OBM?
I keep hearing about OBMs and how they earn so much more than general VAs but honestly I don't even know where I'd start like I feel like I still have so much to learn just as a VA, let alone levelling up to something like that ๐Ÿ˜… is there a specific skill set you need first? do you need to have been a VA for a certain amount of time? I don't want to jump ahead of myself but I also don't want to stay stuck at the same level forever. would love to hear from anyone who's made that transition or is working toward it
Feeling like I'm doing too many different things for too many different clients.
Like on any given day I'm doing inbox management for one client, social media for another, data entry for a third, and light bookkeeping for a fourth and none of it feels connected or like something I'm actually building toward. I know the answer is probably to niche down but every time I try to figure out what that looks like for me I get stuck. did anyone else go through this phase where you felt spread too thin across completely different types of work? what helped you start seeing where you actually wanted to focus was it a specific client, a type of work you genuinely enjoyed, or just getting fed up enough to make a change?

This is literally where I am right now ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I keep taking on whatever comes my way because I'm scared to turn down income and now I have no idea what I actually specialise in. I don't have an answer for you but I'm really glad someone else said this out loud felt like I was the only one feeling this way. following this thread hard because I need the answers too ๐Ÿ˜…
Not gonna lieโ€ฆ feeling a bit discouraged today ๐Ÿ˜•
Iโ€™ve been applying for VA jobs for like 2 weeks and either no replies or โ€œwe went with someone else.โ€ How long did it take you guys to land your first client? And is there something I might be doing wrong? Just need a little reality check tbh.

Honestly this was me not too long ago and I just want you to know 2 weeks is nothing it took me almost a month to land my first one and I was ready to give up ๐Ÿ˜ž what finally worked for me was stopping the job board applications and just reaching out directly to small business owners I actually followed online. felt weird at first but got a response way faster than any application ever did. don't give up yet, the first one is always the hardest
