Career Advancement
Just wanted to drop another thanks to @Will Needham for helping me add the DP-600 cert to my resume. I just signed an offer letter to a better job and I really believe that cert helped me stand out over other candidates. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

@Will Needham It's a consulting role (working for a firm), which will cover Power Platform and Fabric.
The fastest way to (really) learn Fabric
The DP-600 exam is great for giving you an appreciation for a wide range of topics, but does it really prepare you for life as an Analytics Engineer? From speaking with a few of you, it seems you don't feel ready or comfortable yet, which is completely understandable! The DP-600 tests your understanding of the theory, but in the real world, you are measured by your experience and ability to build solutions (how you can apply the theory). As such, I always advise for people to get hands-on as early and as frequently as possible. One of the best Microsoft resources is this list of hands-on exercises which guide you through a number of scenarios, and help you build confidence with the different tools that Fabric provides. Have you tried these resources yet? Let me know what you think! PS: I'm thinking about building a collection of hands-on tutorials which cover a lot of the core analytics engineering/ data engineering (and maybe wider?) tasks that you could expect in your career - would you find that useful?

Hands-on projects are great, but the Microsoft tutorials basically hold your hand through every button press. You don't have to problem solve or think for yourself at all; you can basically turn your brain off and press the right button. What I think is most helpful is working your way through an end to end project with some overall structure and general direction, but still requiring actual engagement and problem solving.

@Will Needham totally agree
Passed DP-600 ๐Ÿ†
I took the test in person this morning and passed! My impressions/suggestions: ๐Ÿ“š โžก๏ธ I needed the full allotment of time. - I had 15 minutes left to go back and review the ones I flagged. - Make your best guess on the first pass, and flag for review if needed. - Donโ€™t spend more than 3 minutes searching through MS Learn (more details below) โžก๏ธ The questions are a little trickier than the practice questions Microsoft provides. - Donโ€™t get over-confident on the practice questions. โžก๏ธ MS Learn is hard to search/navigate during the test, and you can easily waste a lot of time. - While youโ€™re practicing for the test, try only using MS Learn to find the answers. - There is no Ctrl+F option to search for specific text in MS Learn during the test. - You wonโ€™t find much info about external tools on MS Learn. โžก๏ธ The case study gives you a ton of information. - It may be helpful to look at the questions before you start digging into the details so you know what youโ€™re looking for. - You can freely switch between the questions and the info until you complete the case study section. - Once youโ€™re done with all of the case study questions, the section is complete and you cannot return to it. Thanks @Will Needham and the community for all of the resources and tips! (and for the heads up on the free voucher!) Good luck everyone! ๐Ÿ€

@Subramanian Ramasamy For spark, T-SQL, and DAX there were drag-and-drop questions regarding syntax and formula construction, as well as T/F questions to determine the impact of a given formula. I don't actually remember seeing any questions like that for M language, but experience may vary.

@Vickar Khan There is a button that opens a window just like you described. It will split the screen in half between the exam and MS Learn, but you can also toggle full screen.
Practice DP-600 Questions
I recently went through the Microsoft practice questions for the DP-600 exam and they were incredibly helpful in pinpointing the areas where I need to focus! At the end you get a summary of how you did, including the correct answers to each of the questions, with a link to the documentation. While watching videos is a great way to learn, I often feel like I've learned more than I actually have by the end. Similarly, although the Fabric labs on Microsoft Learn are useful, they can be quite superficial. Testing my knowledge with practice questions provided a concrete roadmap for deeper study. For those seeking tips and advice for the DP-600 exam, I highly recommend these practice questions. Passive learning through videos and Microsoft modules can only take you so far. The real value comes from mentally engaging with the concepts and actively seeking answers using only the Learn documentation (which is available during the actual exam). Lastly, I want to give a huge thanks to Will for his amazing videos and resources. They're invaluable, but it's important to remember they are just one part of the learning journey. Good luck everyone! ๐Ÿ†
Design and build semantic models in Microsoft Fabric
Hey all, just released Video 9 in the DP-600 series. This time on Power BI & semantic modelling. ๐Ÿ”—๐Ÿ‘‰ Click here to WATCH + the Course Notes: #9 Design and build semantic models - definitely recommended for this section as I link to quite a few articles by Power BI MVPs who know these Power BI/ DAX topics a lot better than myself!
