Game Today
Never have I know a game like it in my life.. the wind was shocking!! There keeper kicked the ball out of his hands and went behind the goal.. I kicked the ball out of my hands and it didn’t bounce until it went past the other goal! Was hoping it was going to go in 😂

Lizzie had a game like this last season (shouldn't have been played in my opinion). She took a goal kick, that went about 20 yds then came back at her at enough speed that she had to try to save it! She wasn't even sure if she should catch it, or if it would have counted as a back pass 🤣. I wasn't entirely sure myself as no other player touched the ball, but she ended up chesting it down then playing it to a defender.
Was it over the line?
One of Lizzie's saves from today's game. I've watched it back a few times, and I still don't know if it should have been a corner or not. What do you guys reckon? On the line? Corner? Or, just the dark arts of a goalkeeper convincing the ref that it was a routine save? 😂

@Xavier Stark that's why I put the dark arts of a gk as an option 😂. I think she has been very clever with her body positioning. She is adamant that it wasn't out.......but the smile at the corner of her mouth when she says it suggests otherwise. 😉
Shock shield gloves
This is similar to another post I have uploaded on a different thread, but thought this should probably go here too.....I purchased a pair of the shock shield gloves for Lizzies Birthday and today she got to put them to the test in a competitive match. With the wind conditions being pretty strong, there were quite a few long balls over the top of the defensive line, resulting in several 1on1 duels with the strikers. During one of these, Lizzie caught a bouncing ball at the exact moment the striker tried to connect with it. She took a solid kick to the back of the hand/wrist, but brushed it off and immediately put us back on the attack. (I even managed to get the moment of the contact which I usually mistime). She made some great saves in the rest of the game, and won all of her 1on1's but ultimately it wasn't enough to get the victory. Overall, very happy with the gloves. Lizzie has always backed herself 1on1, but these gloves give an added sense of security in those messier moments of contact. 👍

@Emily Hart in all fairness, she is at her best 1v1 when she is diving in at the strikers feet, so probably a good purchase. She grew up playing rugby rather than football, so she doesn't shy away from contact.
THOUGHTS ON THIS VIDEO ?
Guys, what are your thoughts on this type of video ? I am considering working on similar videos - based around goalkeeper education, tips and advice.

As promised, a review on Lizzie's new shock shield gloves. We played a cup match today in some very windy conditions. There were quite a few long balls over the defensive line using the wind, and this created several 1 on 1's. On one of these Lizzie caught a bouncing ball as the striker tried to connect with it. She took a solid kick to the back of the hand/wrist, but was pretty much unfazed by it and quickly put us back on the attack. We ultimately lost the match through several defensive mistakes, but Lizzie made some great saves and won all of her 1on1 duels. Very happy with the purchase. Even managed to capture the moment of contact 🙏

@Xavier Stark yeah, I usually get the picture just before she catches, or just after she has parried it away. Guess I'm getting my timing better 🙏
Kick outs
Has anyone any tips or tricks for kick outs, a bit of length and height ? Thanks

Lizzie has the kick returner and uses it pre game to make sure everything is all good with her timing etc. The biggest thing for her to focus on is keeping her shoulders square to the target and her chest up through impact. When she doesn't, she tends to cut across the ball (kind of like slicing a golf shot). We have also found that when she focuses on technique rather than power, she gets more height and distance. Trying to hit it harder usually leads to a worse result.
