The Power of Pause
Earlier today I talking about being still. A great first step to stillness is learning to pause, especially in the moments where we feel our anxiety rising. If you have started the 2nd module, you will learn some important reasons to pause and how to embrace it as a smart tool in your relationship toolbox. Let me know if you have started the practice of pause and share what you are learning. It will encourage and inspire others who are on the journey with us.

Friday the 13th
I am not a superstitious person so this day does not impact me. What I can share is that 3 years ago today I had an accident and it was on this day I found out they would not have to amputate my hand. I had gotten hit by a forklift and my hand was detached from my wrist. To say this was traumatic is an understatement and it was 3 weeks before my daughter's wedding. What kept me grounded during that time was my faith. I will tell you the story one day because I truly experienced a healing no one ever believed could happen. I have 97% hand function and even my surgeon, who is the head of hand surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida, says it is a miracle. I share this because I want you to consider what grounds you. If it is luck, let me encourage you to look for something more. You deserve to feel connected to something that is bigger than you and that is for you. When we know we are enough and are loved for who we are, it changes us and the way we love. Let me know your thoughts.

Welcome to The P.A.R.E.N.T. Method!
Hello Parent, I am so excited you are here! We are going on a journey together that will help you create the relationship with your adult child you have always wanted. Parenting in this season is not for the faint of heart and I know from personal and professional experience what it takes to be a successful parent to adult kids. You are already ahead of the curve. You are here, hungry to learn, and wanting to grow! Your children are fortunate to have a parent like you who is teachable and willing to invest in your relationship with them. There is no ceiling on a parent who is committed to being the best version of themselves and you will learn on this journey how to be who your child needs you to be: Accepting, emotionally safe, and worthy of trust. Parenting is about you and how you show up in the relationship, not how your children turn out. This is your journey so take whatever time you need to walk through this framework. I have helped parents for over 40 years and I have implemented what you will see and hear with my own adult children, who are in their 40's. I will take you through this process step by step so you know exactly how to incorporate these skills and insights into your life. I want you to be kind to yourself as you start this process. There are millions of parents who have the same questions so take comfort in knowing you are not alone. The good news is that now you are a part of a community who will learn together how to parent adults with confidence and grace. Thanks again for being a part of the P.A.R.E.N.T. Method community. Let's get started! Warmly, Catherine

@Catherine Hickem 2 internationally adopted daughters one 22 & about to leave the nest and embark on her career. Relationship is strained. One just turned 17- wants to be independent like big sister but isn’t ready yet. Relationship is fragile. Trying to change me before I lose them both. As you are likely aware adoption creates its own set of losses and baggage from birth to adoption and the combination makes things very challenging. (Still haven’t been able to find the links for the videos of meetings on 1/27 or 2/3. )
Recordings
Has anyone found the recording to the Tuesday meetings?
