Where YOU Should Go Next!
You have all this energy for Skool and dog training and no where to put it. Don't let it fizzle out. Here are the groups I'd point you towards on Skool... Pat Stuart's Serious Dog Business ā˜ļø Pat has a ridiculous amount of value in this group. The Understanding Punishment module was a game changer for me. The community is full of incredible trainers. My favourite dog training group on Skool right now. Alex Lato's Karate4Dogs Learning Hub ā˜ļø Alex has taught me an enormous amount about dog training and improved my practical skills more than anyone else. Incredible dog trainer, some very cool original ideas around reactivity and the best person at explaining play I've ever encountered. Ave Paasuke's Dog Adventure Club ā˜ļø Ave was one of the OG's here and she's taking a lot of the original spirit of this group and making it her own in her group. Just a really lovely person that will make you want to train your dog more. Everyone loves Ave. Hopefully this helps.

Shutting Down This Group
Hey Gang, This group was really damn epic at times. A lot of us made new friends I know that for sure. I really enjoyed some of the moments we had here. However as I'm sure you can tell I am not spending much time here and as a result the community has slowly began to fade away understandably. I know there will come a day where I do more online stuff but right now I'm more focused on my in-person training and I don't have the energy to commit to this also. I'll still be around on Skool in other people's groups and of course feel free to message me if you need anything. I will look to close this group soon. Thanks for the great conversations and cool hangout.

No way mate! If not you and this group I would never get on Skool. Thanks for everything!
Dog leads, collars recommendations pls
Hey guys- can you recommend any fancy dog collars and leads please? I need them in girly colours (it is for the girls- handler and dog, so pink, light blue etc preferred) lol Biothane and the anti slip ones - good quality is priority. Thanks šŸ™

Question for trainers?
I had a hoopers 1-1 today & it got me thinking more & more about this question. How much do you take into account the handler & their individual learning style when running your training? A few times on my 1-1 the trainer has told me that I’m overthinking things & this is transferring to Freddie & affecting his confidence. ( which I appreciate is true) I’ve been working hard to try not to do this but on reflection I feel that if I’m overthinking it’s because I’m not at the unconscious competence stage so I have to think harder about the task. So my conclusion was if I’m an overthinker just telling me not to overthink wont help, same as if someone was scared of snakes saying don’t be scared won’t help. Do you as trainers adjust to handler as well or is it all about the dog? This is mostly my curiosity & interest 😁

Great question . I love it as I pay so much more emphasis on my coaching skills rather than just dog training in last years. Having adhd brain (this is what my friends say which makes little sense as I’m too old for that- in my youth and part of the world I grew up in, we didn’t have adhd) it easily became my obsession. To the point: Overall I want to find the balance between dogs style, temperament, how they learn etc.and the same with the handler’s. companion dog training- heavily focused and adjusted to the handler. Some of them they are busy with their careers, family etc some a lacking some skills and the goal is to make their life happy as soon as possible. Dog sport training- heavily focused and adjusted to the dog. Dog sport is for us and if we want to bring the performance to maximum, dog comes first. Dog sport is also a journey, there is no rush so the handler has time, passion etc to learn. However my job as a coach is break down elements of the sport to the handler so they don’t need to spend too many brain calories while training (and therefore overthink) This is why I like to teach in frameworks, step by step systems, take the most decision making off the handlers head. If (as you gave example) my handler is overthinking that is my job to change that. Saying: stop overthinking as you pointed that out wont help and in my experience quite opposite- will make handler overthink even more (why am I overthinking? Oh that’s affecting my dog’s confidence…) and as a result performance of a team will suffer even more. As a coaches if we bring enough clarity and coach accordingly to the person in front of us, handler shouldn’t have reason to overthink.

I can’t remember anything that happened any day other than IGP day because the entire time was me realising I’ve not seen anyone in 2 months and I wanted to brush up so I could make sure I showed progress šŸ˜… either way though, it was so good to see everyone and we were INSIDE which felt like a treat, in a cool fly ball ā€œalleyā€ kinda set up. New doggy environment meant Cybi was really interested in everything but after a few attempts he locked in and worked really well. Did some very nice focussed heel with Alex (it never looks as good with me šŸ˜‚) but he said we were doing well with it which was nice. Also did some fine tuning of basic position and fixed front feet position changes. He had had quite a big day on the Tuesday and on Thursday he was still pretty cooked so we didn’t do too much in obedience but was nice to see he’s made some progress while we’ve not managed to get down. I had definitely gotten rusty so was glad to have a bit of a refresher. Then we did protection and Cybi was incredible, I was so proud of him. It’s like he’s had no time off, some really nice complements. I said it’s like Cybi and Alex are having a conversation and I’m just holding the lead having a lovely time and letting go when I’m told šŸ˜‚ we also saw his natural tracking ability in action as he followed a random trail on the floor so I’m quite excited to get started with some of that now! I have decided to try to take this really seriously this year, it’s not only fulfilling for Cybi but I absolutely love it and want him to reach his potential so 2026 is going to be IGP year for us šŸ˜Ž Today we went for a little leg stretch on the beach which he really enjoyed, just a short one before picking B up but I think he needed a rest day and a short but interesting walk. Then we also had a message to say he has been selected as a brand ambassador by a small dog business on instagram, so I guess I’m basically his manager now šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
