Day 21 - structured walk and Engagement
Pull count: 5 • Longest clean heel duration 1 min 25 • Highest reaction intensity (1–10) 2/10 • Obedience response latency (fast / ✔️moderate / slow) • Your energy state (✔️calm / rushed / drifting) Back at it today with our structured walks. Out the gate running! (Not literally we leave the house in a calm neutral state as not to bring excited energy into the walk with us 🤣) Maisy was great. Even after 2 days off of no “structured” walking (just loose leash mechanics) she was back on the heeling like she never left. I noticed again today her offering a lot more focus (even though I’m still slacking on a focus command) unprompted which really makes my heart so happy! One of my neighbors gave me some shit today for no real reason aside from the fact that I think he’s just bored at home alone and needs someone to try and pick a fight with, alas it is not I bud. I kept my energy calm and disengaged keeping Maisy neutral in the whole process. Proud moment on my part handle my emotions for me and for Maisys benefit. food drills tonight were good. Really working those positional commands again making sure we have a solid knowledge (middle, front, come around). Her come around looks a lot more clean, but our front could use some work. Good day over all! Great work Maisy proud of you 💪🏽🐕

Your Dog Training Story
Everyone has a back story as to how or why they wound up training their dogs, and in some cases, other peoples'! I'm curious to know your story: - what peaked your interest? Did you hava a difficult pet or were you inspired by something you saw? - who were your early dog training icons and how have you navigated your way to where you are now? - Who have you followed? Who are you still following? - Who or what makes you cringe when you look back? - What is the best piece of advice someone has given you or any words-of-wisdom that have always stuck with you? The best thing about this group is that there is never any judgement here - just honest sharing of experiences. Looking forward to hearing about your journey!!

@Lauren Edwards honestly Lauren your story is really awesome. I feel like you always hear about people getting dogs and not being able to manage big behaviors but you don’t hear a lot about the dogs that just shut down completely. It’s awesome you never gave up, your dogs are all incredibly lucky!
Training chain
Let’s start a training chain. How it works is that we take turns sharing an exercise or training challenge with the group. Everyone can give it a go at home and share their videos or daily training posts. We then tag the next person to share the next exercise. You can either film it, type it up or share any way you feel comfortable. Just have it ready to post by Sunday 😊

This is an awesome idea! Love it
Day 20 - Structured walk and Engagement
Another solid decomp day. Nothing to major just another casual neighborhood walk maintaining leash mechanics and obedience during a walk. She did well again a little fixation over some squirrels but no lunging or barking and easily redirects. Our engagement drills were good. We drilled our front and come around commands. Touching those up and she was doing well with no leash pressure and just verbal and hand cues. Great work Maisy proud of you 💪🏽🐕

Day 19 Structured Walk and Engagement
Didn’t post again last night, same story running around with my brother lol. He’s going home today so I won’t have any excuses this coming week 😅Good day with the pup though. We got out for our morning walk. Just a decompression day keeping loose leash mechanics. She did excellent a couple times I thought she was gonna try to take off after some squirrels she redirected on her own and I was so proud!! Our food and engagement drills staying on par. I keep meaning to get some film of our contacting cause I’m really not sure if she’s getting it and that’s solely due to my lack clarity on teaching it. Alas, our front paw positioning is doing great and the duration is holding. Still keeping it light 2-3 secs and release. Her stationary heel, and middle are good. Her front and her come around(returning straight forward and into middle) are looking pretty sloppy so we’ll tighten that up. All in all good day Good work Maisy, proud of you 💪🏽🐕
