RBT PDU events
Hello, all! I have a question regarding PDU requirements for RBTs. It was my understanding that any ACE provider event that a BCBA can attend for CEU credits would also count as PDU credits for RBTs. However, I am now seeing that some organizations are providing events that specifically have PDU listed rather than CEU GEN, ETH, or SUP. Does anyone know if the event has to have PDU listed to count for RBTs? Any guidance is greatly appreciated! (I also plan to reach out to the BACB).

Here is another free option available on Behavior Live: https://behaviorlive.com/organizations/lsgurdin/support-staff-rbt-training

@Abbey Macartney when you search for PDUs, the course listing will specifically have something like "1 BACB® PDU" listed. If it says "CEU" or "GEN" or "SUP" or "ETH," that does not count as they are all CEUs.
Ados-2 administrator for BCBA
I have heard that BCBA cannot diagnose autism but can administer the Ados-2 as long as you partner with a licensed psychologist or refer to a licensed professional who can diagnose. I just want to hear more about your experience on this and is it beneficial for you if you learn about this

I just came across a post on Instagram from "thepsychobabblebcbas" that addresses this question and may be worth exploring. Short answer - they argue that BCBAs should not be diagnosing as that is generally legally restricted to licensed psychologists. They provide additional information from the 2026 CASP/APBA ASD Assessment Guidelines, linked here: https://www.casproviders.org/asd-guidelines and here: https://www.apbahome.net/resources. Hope this helps.
Resources for replacing spitting for young adult?
I’ve worked with youngsters prior, but I welcome any and everything to help with this grown (sometimes aggressive) gentleman.

Hi, Victoria! Is this a new behavior, or has it been ongoing? Has medical been ruled out, and do you have any idea of the function of the behavior?

@Victoria Demery do you believe the stim behavior is maintained by automatic reinforcement/sensory? What typically occurs in the environment when he spits - does he receive attention from others, or are demands removed, or does he access anything, such as tangibles? I'm asking these questions to see if you've noticed any patterns related to the potential function(s) of the behavior.
Feedback during supervision
I need input on when to provide feedback during a supervision session in terms of test taking. It's been over a decade since I took the exam. In practice, I always ask my RBTs how they prefer it and which way helps them learn the best. Some prefer it immediately in order to correct the mistake, some prefer it after the trial (DTT) is over to avoid interruptions and some prefer it at the end so they can have time to take it in because it difficult for them to take it all in during their 1-1 time with the student/client. I do immediate if it is an ethical or safety concern but I'm not sure if that's the scenario within the test and mock exams.

Hi, Elinet! I work in a school setting and observe my RBTs when working directly with students. As you described, I might intervene in the moment to provide feedback if needed, but otherwise, I send a feedback email within 24 hours detailing what they did well during the observation, summarizing anything we discussed, and providing some suggestions for moving forward. I also ask at the beginning of our supervisory relationship and throughout how they prefer to receive feedback. Hope that's helpful.

Frequent sleeping
Hello, all! Reaching out to see if anyone has resources or general suggestions for middle school/high school students who engage in frequent sleeping throughout the school day. I recognize that each individual's situation is very unique, and sleep deprivation, medications, mental health concerns, etc. can impact this behavior. Anything is appreciated!
