Feedback during supervision
I need input on when to provide feedback during a supervision session in terms of test taking. It's been over a decade since I took the exam. In practice, I always ask my RBTs how they prefer it and which way helps them learn the best. Some prefer it immediately in order to correct the mistake, some prefer it after the trial (DTT) is over to avoid interruptions and some prefer it at the end so they can have time to take it in because it difficult for them to take it all in during their 1-1 time with the student/client. I do immediate if it is an ethical or safety concern but I'm not sure if that's the scenario within the test and mock exams.

Hi, Elinet! I work in a school setting and observe my RBTs when working directly with students. As you described, I might intervene in the moment to provide feedback if needed, but otherwise, I send a feedback email within 24 hours detailing what they did well during the observation, summarizing anything we discussed, and providing some suggestions for moving forward. I also ask at the beginning of our supervisory relationship and throughout how they prefer to receive feedback. Hope that's helpful.

Frequent sleeping
Hello, all! Reaching out to see if anyone has resources or general suggestions for middle school/high school students who engage in frequent sleeping throughout the school day. I recognize that each individual's situation is very unique, and sleep deprivation, medications, mental health concerns, etc. can impact this behavior. Anything is appreciated!
2027 Supervision Requirements
Hi, all! It's been a while since I've been on, so I apologize if this topic/question has already been covered. I've been supervising an individual accruing fieldwork hours since August 2024. They plan to test AFTER January 2027, so we began using the new 2027 monthly fieldwork verification forms and updated their Ripley account as well. I've reviewed the BACB newsletters from March 2022, September 2023, and March 2025, and the "2027 BCBA Requirements" document and was unable to find any information about when we were supposed to begin using the 2027 MFVFs. The bottom of the document lists "Version 03/2025," so I am assuming that would be the start date? Also, I am wondering if we need to go back and change the previous forms as well. Feeling very overwhelmed! Any guidance would be appreciated :)

Has anyone had to navigate conversations about this topic yet with clients, parents/guardians, and/or stakeholders? If so, how have you approached the conversations?

Assent is an emerging topic in our field and oh so important. Sadly, I've encountered too many BCBAs who lack the knowledge and skills to properly address this in treatment. I'd love the opportunity to learn more about it as well to then disseminate to my team :)

@Nicole Bichelman agreed, Nicole! I'm also working in the school setting and would like more guidance about how to effectively implement assent-based procedures. Especially because many educators do not have these skills readily available.
