KDP Suspension for Review Manipulation, Timeline and Outcome
A few days ago, my KDP account was suspended for alleged review manipulation. Since I spent a lot of time searching for similar experiences while going through it, I thought I'd share what happened and how the situation was eventually resolved. On June 13, I received an email from Amazon stating that my KDP account had been suspended because they had detected attempts to manipulate customer reviews. The email asked for detailed information about any methods used to obtain reviews, third parties involved, customer accounts, documentation, and corrective actions. At that point, Amazon did not mention any specific book. The suspension was account-wide. Naturally, I panicked. Like many people would, I started looking for answers everywhere. I analyzed sales patterns, review history, previous account alerts, and every possible explanation I could think of. The more I searched, the more confused I became. During this process, @Adriano Ferrigno helped me in every step of the way. He reviewed the case, analyzed Amazon's responses, and drafted each appeal that was submitted. I provided the underlying information and documentation, while he helped organize everything into clear responses and guided me through the process as the case evolved. I submitted my first appeal along with supporting screenshots and explanations of the promotional methods I had used. A couple of days later, Amazon replied. They still did not provide much detail, but they finally identified a specific ASIN that was under review. I then sent additional information related to that title, including documentation and a more detailed explanation of the promotional activities connected to it. Amazon responded again with what was essentially the same request for information. At that point, I provided an even more structured response, answered every question as clearly as possible, attached supporting documents again, and explained the steps I would take going forward. On June 21, Amazon reinstated my KDP account.

This is what I mean when I keep saying that Book Village is your ally. I took responsibility for helping Shivam precisely because we know exactly what we are doing. One note I want to share with you, which may be useful, is that you should always pay attention when, over the last few months, you start receiving emails from Amazon regarding any of your books. It often happens that, for whatever reason, Amazon temporarily blocks one of your books and then, after your response, immediately unblocks it. However, in some way, we have observed that accumulating these types of blocks can temporarily trigger what seems like a magnifying glass on your account. When, over the last six or twelve months, you start accumulating three, four, or five situations like this, we are increasingly seeing Amazon then target a single book and create situations similar to what happened to Shivam, each time with different excuses. Sometimes they mention review manipulation, sometimes they claim the book imitates a previously published book, or something else, always with extremely vague arguments. That is why it is essential to know exactly what Amazon’s automated systems need to hear. The point is that, in my opinion, if Amazon had been sure that Shivam had manipulated reviews, his account would have been banned immediately, exactly as stated in their terms and conditions. But that was not the case.
Reviews at BookVillage for Guild Members and More
I finished my book and went back to the Guild in full force. This week will be dedicated to final tweaking and preparations for the launch of the "3-in-1 Review Toolkit" for the Guild members. One of the tools in the kit is the special offer from BookVillage for the Guild members: - The first 30 days are free - Performance guarantee (description below) - The next 2 months are 25% off ($15 a month) - A fixed price of $20 forever, as long as the subscription is active. Even if the price is raised for other users. To get the special conditions register by the link: https://bookvillage.pub/?via=guild What is Performance guarantee: "If at the end of your free trial there is a net difference between all the reviews you have posted and the ones you have received, and you have followed the guidelines BookVillage recommends, which are essentially based on requesting paid verified purchases as much as possible (for your safety), then BookVillage will extend the free trial". BookVillage invests significant effort in researching best practices for Amazon reviews and shares them with its users. It's really worth reading messages from the service and acting on its guidance. The second and third tools from the toolkit will be discussed at the online meeting on Friday, February 6th. Stay tuned.

Is It Possible to Run Ads Successfully without Reviews?
I hope the data in the screenshot answers this question well enough. This is just the 7th day of the campaign, and the conversion rate is more than 19%. Hear me correctly: I do not mean to say that reviews are not important. Quite the opposite, I am sure reviews are essential for success. But do not let the absence of reviews (yet) stop you from actively promoting your book. And next, to get a very good deal for the BookVillage review platform, use the link https://bookvillage.pub/?via=guild Have you had experience with good book sales without reviews, or with a minimal number of them?

Hi guys, for those who don’t know me, I’m the founder of BookVillage. I completely agree with what Igor said. Having reviews on your books won’t guarantee sales if the book itself isn’t appealing to potential customers. On the other hand, if your book is attractive, then having more reviews will definitely increase the CTR and conversion rate of your campaigns. We’ve recently updated the subscription pricing for BookVillage. So I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to sign up using Igor’s link and take advantage of the following discounts: - Monthly plan: 25% off for the first 2 months - Quarterly plan: 25% off the first quarter - Annual plan: $50 discount

@Yaffa Turgeman it’s a platform where anyone can read and review other authors’ books, and in return gain the opportunity to have their own books read and reviewed. Meanwhile, in the background, we monitor that all users act correctly, don’t use fraudulently created accounts, and ultimately are genuine readers who can ensure the safety of your KDP account. Of course, we also ensure that two users do not review each other, as this would violate Amazon’s guidelines, but that is truly just the basic level of security. We do much more than that.
If you need to get reviews this year, act today

@Morgan Sutherland Of course. As long as you see the current price on the sales page, it means the conditions remain unchanged. As soon as the sales page changes, it means the prices have officially been updated.

@Igor O Thank you very much for the announcement
BookVillage is banning its customers... and it's actually great.
In the last 30 days alone, BookVillage has permanently banned around 70 users who were relying on low-quality external services. In most cases, this means virtual assistants using already flagged Amazon accounts. It was users who would have continued paying their subscriptions and generating revenue for the service. But those users were actively lowering the quality of reviews. It's the first case I know in the "author-helps-authors" review sector where a company actively prioritizes service quality over short-term profits. What do you think: should every paid customer be allowed to take a risk, or should a service limit the ability to use its services for users who endanger others?

Thank you very much, Igor. From a broader perspective, while many other coaches choose to turn a blind eye and continue recommending services that only keep getting worse, there are people like you, and fortunately many of our users, who are able to recognize and appreciate the value of what we do.
