How to Focus (for Skool Owners)
As per the request of @Jack Robinson, here's how to get more done as a Skool owner! So let's get started! Focus is like an arrow. It's got 3 parts: 1. The arrowhead 2. The shaft 3. The trajectory And each of these 3 parts work together to help you get more work done in LESS time (aka. productivity). 📌 (1) Arrowhead The tip of the arrow is what pierces the target. That means, this is the part of focus in which you START to do the work. Having a faulty arrowhead means you struggle to even get started on your work... in other words, procrastination. Now why's that? Well, it's simple. Motivation... or dopamine. When you've got less motivation to do the work, you often don't start. And that's where you run into this situation where you want to make progress toward your goals... but you don't. So the simple solution. Increase your motivation to work through something that I call DESTIMULATION. Destimulation is where you get rid of EVERYTHING that causes you instant gratification (with the exceptions of only 1-2 things). That means: no phone, no games, no scrolling, no YouTube, no lyrical music, no drugs, no alcohol, etc. This RAISES your dopamine baseline (raises standard dopamine levels), making you more motivated to work. 📌 (2) Shaft The shaft of the arrow is what allows you to sustain the focus. If you run into issues where you get distracted during your work, this is where you struggle. Most often, there's 2 kinds of distractions: 1. External distractions 2. Internal distractions External distractions include: - your phone - a million tabs open on your Mac (you know who you are 👀) - random papers - notifications - emails - etc. It's a bunch of junk that just won't let you focus when you wanna focus. And sometimes, these are actually important... but just not important IN THE MOMENT. For example, I could be working on scripting videos for my YouTube channel, but I'd reply to a Skool comment.

@Evelene Sterling I'm obsessed with neuroscience, productivity, flow state, and almost anything when it comes to using health for focus. Specifically, the science aspect.

@Jack Robinson another tip that I learned from Dopamine Nation is the pain-pleasure balance. Basically the greater the peak in dopamine, the greater the crash. So if you do a super high dopamine activity for example scrolling reels, then your dopamine will just plummet and it'll go way further below baseline than if you were to eat a tasty meal. Because scrolling releases a lot of dopamine, while eating a tasty meal releases more dopamine but not to the extent of scrolling. So moral of the story kind of is to just not do the high dopaminergic activities.
