Community Name / Feedback Requested
I originally named this group (KDP publishing) which is how you self publish on Amazon, but it has been brought to my attention that not everyone knows what "KDP" means and it can create some friction for targeting the audience I want to target right now. What do you think if I switched the group name to something simple like "Book Publishing" this way it is clear and everyone understands immediately what the group is about, and can help people who are brand new to self publishing get started. Of course I wanted your feedback before I make any immediate changes. 🥰

@Krista Brea I feel like SEO and branding are often at odds with each other. 😆

I do think removing KDP is a good move. I’m not a fan of acronyms.
Learning From a 4 Year Old
Watching my son learn how to read 📘 has been one of the most humbling things. He’s four, sounding out letters, piecing together words, celebrating the smallest wins. Reading is something we expect kids to learn. It’s built into the system. Publishing isn’t. Most adults were never taught how to publish a book. Some were never encouraged to write at all. Many second-guess themselves before they even get one sentence on the page. And that’s not a flaw — it’s a gap in education. The difference between people who publish and people who don’t isn’t talent. It’s a choice. A choice to learn. A choice to invest in yourself. A choice to keep improving instead of staying stuck. Just like reading, publishing is a skill. And skills can be learned at any age — if you’re willing to take action. 👉 If you’ve been sitting on a book idea and you’re ready to make this the year it actually happens, comment “BOOK” below and let’s take the first step together.

@Krista Brea You never know what’s possible! He’s still like molding clay. 🤗 I have a sister (adopted as a baby) who has memory issues and other challenges. She took speech for most of her special education journey. She’s in a vocational program now at 21. Should be interesting to see who she is becoming. People bloom on their own timelines. 💞

Digital Rights Management
I got this email this week from Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) and I wanted to share my opinion on it. I would strongly recommend you apply Digital Rights Management to your books and not allow people to download your manuscript. It's unfortunate, but a lot of books already get duped (including my own), and allowing people to instantly download your files just because they purchase a low-cost ebook means the easier it is for people to snag your files and duplicate your work. It's always best to protect these digital assets of ours!

Thanks for the cautionary ⚠️ tale. Sorry you got duped!
What if 2026 is the year you finally publish your book?
If writing a book has been on your mind for a while, this is your sign to set the goal now. Books don’t happen by accident—they happen when you decide and start building momentum. Start with Future Author Energy in the classroom to get clear on your book idea and stop overthinking. When you’re ready to turn that idea into a real, published book, the Book Challenge will help you put everything together. Yes, a book can be done in 7 days—but if life is busy, let’s aim for something realistic and powerful: your first book published in Q1 of 2026. I’m launching a brand new book in Q1 too, so we’ll be building and launching together. No perfection—just progress.

I want to harness his imagination, build it out more, and then add my editing/ideas with him/everything else 🤣… We have been talking about this story for so many years it’s just like part of our family convos 🤣 …and it all starts with a frog. 🐸 He takes character inspiration from his stuffed animals… it’s so sweet listening to him read his draft, and so I need to record that version of the story before I do anything to it.

He told me “trade secrets Mommy!” So I’m not at liberty to share the tale until it is camera-ready… 😆

@Rich Gomez 💗 Non-verbal communication is 80% of human communication… which makes social dynamics so interesting in online spaces. 🤓
