Building a website for a client
Where to start and what is everything I need to consider in terms of costs and hosting platforms? Never built a website before so I am clueless where to start and what's involved in the entire process. Any advice or tutorial links would be extremelly helpful

Try to keep it as simple as possible when you start and keep to the main decisions. For any website the three key things you will need are the: -Domain -Host -Content Management System The domain and servers hosting can be purchased through a huge amount of domain registrars available each having their own price points and offer. For ease of use i always recommend Godaddy as my domain registrar. For hosting i usually reccomend Siteground for it ease of use. For actually building and working on a website choosing a CMS is more around how you want to work with the site and how you want to build it. Wordpress is the most well known CMS and most used CMS available. There is a huge amount of content available on it and is very easy to manage/install. Siteground in particular can basically auto install and set up a staging site with Wordpress for you. Wordpress is free and wont cost anything. The theme you install on wordpress and the design builder you choose can cost money especially if you want the paid versions which offer much more utility. Our stack that we use is Astra as our Theme for its speed and the fact its very lightweight. For our builder we use Elementor Pro which is more to my personal tastes of how to build and design sites and the utility it offers me. There are plenty of options available for both. For themese you can stick with the yearly wordpress theme release and use the 2024 theme or you can even use the elementor theme both will work perfectly fine. For builders i would stick to a solid visual builder like elementor, you can look at similar products such as beaverbuilder, divi, etc and find which one you like. For how to onboard your client effectively make sure to fully plan out your site as best as you can and what you are going to be doing. Build out your sitemap and use tools to do wireframes so you can get a good idea of what conent and other collatoral you will need from your client and set a date for them to get it all to you before you proceed with the build.
Google Ads Questions
New Ad Account The Campaign Goal is Leads (lead form submissions) Im starting with 2 ad groups Hi guys, i have a couple questions about google ads: 1. Do i start campaign with maximize clicks first and then switch to conversions? If so, then after what period of time or after how many clicks should i switch? 2. What type of ad group should i start with? Standard / Dynamic? Would be nice to have the @Cameron Walker to answer as he's expert when it comes to google ads. Thanks in advance for all the advice!

Hey @Bartosz K Alistair is 100% right here. I will always start my campaigns with max click as i try to get as much data as possibel to see the extent of the search intent coming through on the keywords i selected. How i chop and change from there depends on the results i recieve and the goal of the campaigns. In most cases i will be changing to Max conversions for general service lead based campaigns. For how long until you switch i always say to my clients 1 months because its easy to understand. The real answer is until i have an unbiased statistically significant set of data that i can use to interpret the search intent as well as the general trends of the industy in that area. You have to make your own judgement call on the data to say if you are happy that what you have seens is representative enough of the campaign as a whole and how it will proceed. Start with standard ad groups they give you a lot more direct control over all the tools google has available.
Technical Question Re:Access to client website / hosting
Hi all, I want to run Google Ads for client. Context: Client has had website built for him by third party and he has no idea where the hosting is. He has access to the website + domain manager. I guess this is all I need from the client right is the login details of the website + domain manager? From here, I use Hostinger, so all I have to do is point the domain to my hosting provider. Am I missing anything here i.e. would the website just completely crap itself if I suddenly moved hosting providers? I'm guessing what I do from here is then create a subdomain on top of the existing website, which I'll be able to do via Hostinger. Note, client wants to move Host providers, so he's happy to move to my hosting. What would happen if he didn't want to move hosts? Seems a little too simple ... @Cameron Walker

Hey @Aaron T If you migrate the website to a new host and repoint the DNS to the new host there should be no issues with the website. If all your looking to do is run google ads and you are going to create a subdomain on your own hosting you wont need to move his site at all and only create an A Record in his DNS to point a subdomain to your own hosting. If he doesn't move his main website to your host there will be no downsides or errors. Subdomains function as a fully seperate website.

@Aaron T Yes you can create a seperate GA4 account or property and link it to the subdomain website.
Google Ads Housing Restrictions
Hey guys, My client's campaign has been running for just over a month now and things have been going ok but google now says they have disapproved the ads via automatic google check. I am not entirely clear on what's wrong here. Is age targeting not allowed in US? Or Housing ads altogether? Surely not as there's a lot of people running similar things in Real Estate. I've stopped any specific age targeting or anything too personal and appealed the ban. What do you guys think? Do I just need to start a new campaign or something?

Hey @Bart Wojciechowski Looks like the issue is likely with the age targeting inside US. https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/9917652?hl=en#:~:text=In%20an%20effort%20to%20improve,marital%20status%2C%20or%20ZIP%20code.&text=This%20policy%20change%20will%20apply%20in%20the%20U.S.%20and%20Canada%20only
