“Why am I always so surprised when things go wrong??”
That was the question that popped into my head while I was doing my daily asana/yoga practice. {Stick with me on this one, kids. It’s a long one 🙃} It actually stemmed from a conversation that I had with an old friend on Saturday. He was talking about one of his trips to Korea, and he shared how their mindset is so different in Asia. Here, we’re always so surprised and upset when things go wrong/not according to plan. But up there, they have a calm understanding that things going awry is always a logical possibility. And it was almost as if that query on my mat was subtle foreshadowing for how my morning was going to go… I won’t get into the details, but let it be known that the morning **DID NOT** go as planned. 🥲 As I laid there with my fussy 11 month old, at 11:30A, trying to put him down for the THIRD time, I found myself getting pulled into the resistance of, “what is.” Getting mad because so much time had been wasted, and I just wanted to be working! I finally sat down at my computer, feeling tempted to say, “Screw it. The whole morning is gone and I have less than 2 hours before the girls come home from school. I might as well just give up and try again tomorrow.” But something inside said, “Just stick to the plan. Maybe you started a little late, but just stick to the plan and run down the list [of to do’s].” I’m writing this at 8:50P, and for the first time ever, I’m actually super surprised that things went well! I finished everything on my list (and then some) in record time… AND I got dinner on the table on time! Trust me, that’s a solid win for me. 😅 If you made it this far, go ahead and drop a 🥳🥳🥳 in the comments, that way I’ll know who’s a G, in the group. 😂 Kidding, kidding. But in all seriousness, tell me, how do YOU respond when the plan goes to 💩? Does it vary between scenarios and people??

Ooh I once saw this quote that said, "My life can be summed up in one phrase: It didn't go as planned and that's okay." And that was 🤯

Yes and if you reflect on all the times your plan went awry, what was the outcome? When I first saw that quote, I connected it to how I would always be let down that I did my life goals out of order. Plan= Go to college and have established career --> get married --> have kids. What actually happened.... had kids--> got married--> went to college, never finished. Buuut I achieved my goals. It was not at all how I envisioned it happening but I still got what I wanted and have a great life. The career one never quite panned out but the vision gets clearer as I go through the different experiences. So yes, still plan and remember that one quote you always say to the universe..."surprise and delight me." 😊
New Biz Foundations: First Steps
@Shauna Lindsey and I recently decided to start a new business venture together— amidst running our other business(es) and keeping up with our family responsibilities 🤪. After making the decision to go full force with this, our first steps were: 1. Leveraging AI to create a business plan for structure and alignment (reviewed, edited, and personalized TOGETHER) 2. Established NON-NEGOTIABLE weekly, standing meeting with each other to maintain momentum and accountability 3. Booked/invested in a call with our business mentor to get expert perspective on opportunities and blind spots 4. Established mission statement + core values so we ALWAYS have a guiding light for what to do and why. We’re crazy excited to get this off the ground and I want to bring you guys on this crazy journey with us! For those of you who already have an established business, what were your foundational first steps after deciding to open up shop?? ⬇️Drop your answers below! ⬇️

@Ryan Akiyama It all still formed into a full response! What awesome an awesome employer you had. Sounds like the transition into starting your business was kind of a nice, lateral move.

🎥 Replay: 🔔 How to Adjust Notifications
Well, our first live was super informative, but I forgot to hit the mic button 🙃 so you’re getting the second attempt... this time with a special guest appearance from baby Noa! Even though we couldn’t dive into the full plan, I did walk through how to adjust your notifications inside Skool so you only get the emails/alerts you actually want: 1. Click your profile pic in the top right 2. Go to Settings → Notifications 3. Adjust your preferences (digest email frequency, post likes, etc.) for Aloha Pumehana Collective That way, you can stay connected without feeling overwhelmed by pings in your inbox. You guys, I can't tell you how grateful I am that you’re here. Seriously, your time and attention mean the world to me, and I don’t take it lightly. Thank you for being part of this space... our space! We’ll run the full live again soon. Until then, click around the tabs, explore, and make yourself at home here in the Collective. 👶 Say hi to Noa in the comments if you catch him in the video!

Maybe it happened because Noa is your "Director of Media," as shown in your IG story post the other day. 🤪 So he needed to be awake to make sure you were setup well for recording!
Week of 9/28 - 10/4/25
🌺 Aloha, my friends! Happy Sunday! It’s time to set our intentions for the week ahead, and the first week of the LAST 90 DAYS OF 2025! Drop one word or short phrase in the comments to anchor how you want to show up this week. Take a deep breath in and share what feels right for you. Here’s mine for this week: "Keep it together," In the healing community, our work often asks us to soften and release control. But lately, I've felt a call to lean into structure, discipline, and self-control. It's so easy for me to succumb to emotion and overwhelm, and then spiral into criticism and guilt. But I know that I find power and strength in leaning into the edges of my comfort zone through self-control. Your turn! How do you want to show up for yourself and your tribe this week? ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️
