Body Doubling/Priority Party Discussion Thread
Let's chat here about days and times that work well for folks! I'm always looking for body doubling as someone who works from home! 💖 Please include time zones as well since I know we're all over the place. 🥰

@Judy Hu it's Monday's 1p-3p EST on Zoom! I'll be out next week so the next meeting will be March 16th. Anyone who wants to join DM me and I'll send you the Zoom link and I'll add you to the email list where I send reminders!

The structure is: - we start by saying hello and naming what we would like to spend our time in during the space - then we all go on mute, and we each set up our vibe (I like having high frequency music to help me focus) - Folks are welcome to join at any point! So if you join after we're already started, I'll send a greeting in the chat and you have the option of sharing what you're working on there, so that folks can keep their flow going! - at the end, I'll bring us back together and we have the option of sharing how it went.
Who Am I Without The Trauma?
My creation from today's group: this lifelong journey to understand who I am (who we each are) underneath/without the trauma. As we talked about it, I could see/it felt like being cemented behind a wall and slowly chipping always to uncover myself/ourselves.

Miinidiwag: they give (something) to each other; they have a give-away
(From the Ojibwe People’s Dictionary https://ojibwe.lib.umn.edu/main-entry/miinidiwag-vai) Hi everyone. I have a dear friend couple who live nearby in Boston outer metro, whom I love as family. Gretchen is a horse woman and landscape gardener who looks after my dog when I travel (usu several weeks per year). Her husband Liam is a professional painter and carpenter who would be here in a minute if I needed anything. They are always the first people I list as emergency contacts for my child. They are both small business owners who support themselves through their skills at making the world more beautiful, kind, friendly and functional. One of the ways I look after them is to ask Liam to help me with projects around the house during the winter slow season. Gretchen recently asked if I need anything done, and I said yes, because I know she wouldn’t ask if Liam didn’t need the work. I have already committed to several days work (and zhooniya $) for Liam, but my reality is that I don’t have capacity or real project needs right now. So I want to offer to our community. Does anyone in the area need indoor painting or carpentry done by a skilled craftsman? Some examples of work Liam has done for us: lots of indoor painting (choose your colors at Sherwin Williams), built-in bookcases and shelving, removed carpet and refinished basement stairs, installed bathroom ventilation fan, built and installed coat hook racks, built a shelf and hook system for kitchen pans and lids, moved heavy furniture, and installed a medicine cabinet. During the pandemic, he single-handedly re-shingled our entire house, including structural repair when he found hidden damage. I have already committed the dollars to gift to Liam for several days work. Do you have project needs to also gift? There would be no financial cost to you. Just the awareness that you are helping friends and community by providing an opportunity for this dear man to work from his heart and provide for his family. (If you want to contribute a $ tip when the project is done, I’m sure it would not go unappreciated.)

Not sure if this is still an offer, Joan or if you already found someone who could use the work, but I'm asking a friend of mine who I know is re-doing their kitchen and is mostly doing it on their own. I'll let you know what they say!

My friend says they're all good! Turns out they have a friend helping. Thanks for the offer, Joan!

I recently said this to a friend--no one is coming to save us. If we want to see it, we have to go out there and get it for ourselves. In the convo i was talking about financial liberation, but it applies to it all. 👏
Podcast Episode Share - Re: Minneapolis
Hi everyone! Just wanted to share this podcast episode that talks about what's happening in Minneapolis. Specifically what landed for me was this part where Autumn address the idea that people are paying attention to Good's murder only because she's white. It was something I really needed to hear and helped me ground. Sending y'all love. <3 https://endoftheworldshow.org/episodes/an-emergency-dispatch-from-occupied-minneapolis-intense-frightening-surreal-and-inspiring
