Reelin From This One!
Whew! This one is fun! I think I'm going to try to learn the lead for the whole song! 🤯 It'll take a bit, but when I get it done, I'll share with Y'all! As always, Please let me know what you think. Any ideas to speed / clean it up are welcome. Thanks!

Thanks Ben! I definitely need to use the metronome more. I'll put that to work directly! On a side note, I tried recording a bit with my iPad today and it sounds so much better! Thanks for that advice! The only problem was that it didn't make me any better (or younger) looking 😎
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE!
Thank you for being here @Mike Abalos! I couldn't do this without you! Give him some love everyone!

Don't Give Up!
Hey everyone, Mike here. Today I just want to remind you of one thing: DON'T QUIT! The guitar journey isn't only when you're holding the guitar. It's when you're thinking about that song you're trying to learn. It's wrapped up in your confidence, in how you decide whether or not you can do something. Guitar challenges you mentally, not just physically. It's not only your fingers hurting or your hands cramping up, it's the work of building that muscle memory in your head too. A little about me... I do not have the technical chops most people do. If you're like me, Facebook is plenty of internet for one day. Becoming your own sound guy, working in a studio, all of that used to feel like a whole other art form that somebody else was supposed to do. I'm a musician, I make art my way, let the audio engineers make theirs. That's what I told myself for years - And that was the reason I left "plugging in" up to the pro's. Well, here I am. I've got a little reverb on my voice, I can hear myself in my ears, I'm plugged into my guitar, and I'm recording the screen all at once. I've never done this before, and honestly the setup was scary. We're in a room that's being remodeled right now and I don't even have a permanent space for a studio, which has held up a lot of what I want to do. But here we are today, making it happen anyway. (I attached a picture of what my little setup looks like at the moment.) And that's really the whole point of this post. No matter what happens, no matter what space you're in, this is about challenging yourself. This is about taking yourself to where you want to be. This is about identifying as the guitar player who practices in the room regardless of who's watching. About being ready to try again right after you fail. About starting before you can talk yourself out of it. About remembering what you actually want to share with your guitar, and why you play in the first place. Whether that's relaxing in your favorite chair in the living room or playing in front of a crowd. About remembering the songs that were played for you, the ones you want to be able to play back for yourself someday.

I love your studio man! Great video! It was very inspiring to watch. My challenge this week has been to learn Bens most recent Riff of the Week! I'll get it posted up soon. Hopefully, someone else will too! Thanks Mike!
C Chord Progression
This one gives you plenty of room to mess around with the A minor pentatonic if you've got a looper. (Pro tip: No looper, no problem... Record yourself in a video/recorder of your choice i.e. your phone, an app or a website, and pop in headphones - voilá - you're looping and playing!) The progression: Am - F - C - G X3 Bm7♭5 - E7 (Then this one gives you the "turn around") On the Bm7♭5: This is the weird one. If you're playing it wrong, it'll sound weird right away. And if you're playing it right, it'll also sound weird right away. That's how you know you're on the path. 😆Just make sure all those notes are ringing out clean. On the E7: I'm setting it up so the shape kind of lives in my hand from the Bm7♭5. Pointer stays anchored, then I drop the other fingers into the E7 shape. It feels clumpy at first but I think it makes the transition sound melodically-smooth once you've got it. Loop it up and play some lead over top. Don't feel locked into the rhythm I'm playing... You could totally strum it however you want. Whatever feels good. Show me what you've got when you record it. Have fun with it! We'll see you in the comments!

Very nice! You nailed that "crazy" chord change!

It fits in well with your method! I'm jealous that it only took you 40 tries! Mine took about 210! 🤣It's all in good fun though! Hopefully we can get more people posting. It's very helpful to see how other players tackle certain challenges!
C Chord Progression
Hello again everyone!....Well, I have attempted Mikes C Chord Progression from the other day in A minor which, as we have decided, is in C major....I think 🤔. I have more of a pause in my switch to the Bm7b5 than I would like and I changed up the end just a bit, but I figured I'd throw it out there any way. What's the worst that could happen? Let me know what you think! Thank you!

Thanks Mike! That is definitely a tough one. I guess that's how we improve though!
