Charlie's Guitar Stroke Recovery Journey
I love playing guitar and during COVID I suffered a “Stroke”. This unexpected stroke affected the whole right-side of my body, in other words, zero movement; this was a very scary experience. Slowly movement is returning through therapy, extreme hard work, staying very positive, being hopeful and many prayers; still healing through the grace of God! After some time has gone by, I started have a strong desire to start playing guitar again. My fret hand is fine, the challenging issue is my picking and strumming right hand, at which I call the engine. So, I accepted this personal challenge to start playing guitar again. I decided to make a weekly video library to document my progress. Please follow me on my journey and I hope this adventure encourages others to do the same. God Bless! https://www.youtube.com/@cwebber402

@Charles Webber Great attitude to have! I've been wanting to start a classroom section completely devoted to techniques, I've just been super busy in other aspects so far (always, am I right? haha). That being said, hybrid picking is definitely on the list so keep your eye's peeled. It's such a handy technique! I wish you all the best in your journey!

Here is your first official challenge! Go ahead and find your favorite chord progression from the tabs section above, hit record, and give it an attempt. Don't worry about making mistakes... just watch the others who have stepped up before you, dig into whatever you’re playing, and post it. But for now just a pic of your guitar and a simple hello would do so we can get to know the player 😃 While we are busy behind the scenes building out the vault and creating a definitive space for this community, we are also seriously committed to showing up in the ways that actually count. And that starts right here. When it comes to the "conversational" side of playing guitar, there is never enough action. We want to change that. So, let’s open up the floor by sharing what we're playing on. Let's see your guitars! Look, sometimes you just don’t want to scroll through pictures of people's family vacations, and you’d rather browse through beautiful guitar pics for an hour instead. Am I right or am I right? Who's to say? Whatever you're playing on, we are absolutely here for it. Drop a photo of your guitar in the comments. Intermediate guitar players are, by far, one of the largest and loudest groups in the musical world... and honestly, we’re sharper than most. While everyone else out there is just "doing stuff," we are actively learning new skills and sharpening the ones we already have. We deserve a dedicated space for these exact conversations. We deserve practical, no-BS information we can actually trust, coming from people we actually like to see. Most of our players here have been adapting to the elements and playing for years. We are a proud group, and we absolutely should be. Check out the "Classroom" Section. Check out the practices with helpful tabs, drop your video or gear pics below, and let’s get this community talking about where pics actually go when they fall down and are never seen again... Catch you in the chat! (The image: My daughter trying to play "Uncle "@Benjamin Wood Jumbo body Epiphone)

@Mike Abalos @Daz S Tabs, up until now have usually been part of "Riff of the Week". But starting next week we will have chord charts to accompany the chord progression video's, which not only show where to play the chord, but which fingers to use as well! Keep your eyes peeled here in the next few days!

Happy Birthday @Benjamin Wood . On this day 43 years ago, our very own - Ben Jammin' was birthed into this world. He was always meant for more, and delivers on his every word. He's a great pal, great instructor and better yet... He's a good person. Ben is dedicated to helping others on the guitar and always gives 110% to the things he gets involved with. He's sacrificed many of his "nights out" - many of his "lazy days" - he's given so much to his craft and it really shines in his playing. It really shines in his teaching and his understanding. From guitar to real world drama, Ben has always proven to be a loyal, trustworthy and dedicated individual. So please join me in wishing Ben a sincere happy birthday and great new year by posting a video of you shredding, playing happy birthday or doing a "one note" solo. Whatever it is... whatever it looks like - thanks for being here and we look forward to sharing more over the coming years. For memories' sake, here are a few bad pictures of Ben and a few from gigs we've played together over the years... Oh man there are so many more. Until next year... love ya Ben. Toodles 👋

A practice exercise you should be using in your playing!!
Ben here, with another video in the "Classroom" section, specifically the Practice exercises tab. This one's all about note groupings of four. These sorts of patterns are where riffs and "faster" guitar playing live. If you want faster guitar playing, get good at these, and make sure to use them in all keys and scales! Also, there's tabs at the bottom to help get you started. I did position one of the Major, Minor, and Minor Pentatonic scales to get you started with the overall concept. Good luck and have fun! https://www.skool.com/intermediate-guitar/classroom/4f74be2f?md=b9ba08dcaa84423bac0ef8a1303dcabc -Ben

New to group.
I played guitar for several years when I was younger, then quit for forty years, now re-learning, currently can play rhythm guitar to most songs, now slowly learning notes and special chords required by some songs. Look forward to gathering some good information that may improve my skills with this group.

What chords are you working on? Oh, and welcome!

@Robert Coble It might be a good idea to look into CAGED chords or even just triads and inversions. Any chord you could need or want is usually just right next door to the next one. On top of that, there's less movement overall which, through practice, would help eliminate the "lag time". Personally I think they can sound better too! There's a course on CAGED and a smaller lesson video on triads in the "Classroom" Section" at the top of the page. Hope that helps steer you in the right direction!
