Gathered Gold: “I am larger, better than I thought, / I did not know I held so much goodness.”
Today I would love to officially welcome in our newest member @Viktoria Chervenkova. A warm welcome to you and thank you for bringing your beautiful energy to us. Over the past few days I am reminded why I started this group and indeed Lovecore. Living with chronic Illness, can feel lonely and the need for connection and understanding is important. I wanted to create a space that would feel energised, positive, empowered. Not toxic positivity, just something real, something alive, with like minded people who love life, who want to heal from the inside out. I learned that it wasn’t just people living with chronic illness that needed the space, it’s for everyone on a healing journey…burnt out, feeling lost, life changes, healing trauma, loss, tired of loving everyone else except yourself. Lovecore is for everyone - because, everyone should love themselves better. Song of the Open Road - Walt Whitman https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/48859/song-of-the-open-road?utm_source=chatgpt.com Today’s poem is just gorgeous! And I feel like it really embraces that feeling of loving life. I love it so much, it made me smile which is why I wanted to share it with you today. I think the meaning behind it, is that, we really don’t need to have it all figured out, we just need to enjoy life / the journey! The adventure! What do you think?

I think I might have already voiced this confession - The Confession of someone for whom poetry has been something of an mystery. I can't pretend that I get ' poetry' but then having been put off this genre from high school days, I admit I have not read many or tried to get into it. Then what am I doing on this platform in this community? Good question! other than supporting @Silver Ramsay I joined trusting that some exposure to poetry might draw me in. Nothing ventured is nothing gained. Coupled by the recent reading of one of Nadine's poems, which made me sit up and think " maybe just maybe!" I started out reading the recommended poem by Walt Whitman - oh dear - could not feel into it, saw that it was long and thought " oh my giddy aunt" will I ever get into poetry? I'll hang in and hang around - because " maybe just maybe!"
A little reflection from me today - Living Gratitude with Pain
It’s easy to be grateful when life is amazing. When I’m lying by the pool in a luxury five-star resort, gratitude comes easily. But it is also hard to love a body that is in constant pain. This week I have been writing a lot about gratitude, both for my book and for myself. I think gratitude is a personal responsibility. Without it, I think life could start to feel empty. It could start to feel like a struggle. Always hoping for things to improve, or for the pain to subside, while also knowing that it may not. And in that space, the void can grow bigger - between the person I was and the person I have had to become. But that void can be filled with gratitude. Not in a fake way. Not by pretending pain does not exist. But by remembering that there is always something to be grateful for, no matter how small. Be present. Notice. Be thankful. Remember. I don’t think gratitude comes from going without, or from imagining a life without something. I think it comes from love. From being present. From noticing a small beautiful smile, a ripple, a glimmer. Living gratitude is a glow-up. It does not take away a life with pain. It shows you the beauty of the life.

@Silver Ramsay What landed with me once again in this inspirational quote, was the word " appreciate". For me that word carries a little bit more gravitas than gratitude. I'm guessing that I am essentially referring to the essence of appreciation and the essence of gratitude. That feeling of appreciating what life has to offer, what it delivers and how we respond to that, has ring of acceptance to it. Like you have rightly said- like gratitude, appreciation is love in action. What say you?
