What Are Your Thoughts on Smart Guitars? 🤔🎸
I’ve been diving into some new gear ideas lately, and I’m curious where the community stands on smart guitars — instruments with built-in tech, apps, onboard effects, learning tools, etc. Some players love the innovation… others feel like it takes away from the raw, traditional guitar experience. I can see both sides, which is why I want to hear from you. Do smart guitars actually solve real problems for guitarists? Would you ever own one — or do you already? What features would make a smart guitar worth it? Drop your thoughts below. I’m really interested to hear the honest opinions from this group.

Anything that entices someone to pick up a guitar and learn to play is a good thing in my book. I actually have one on order that should arrive in January. It has LEDs built into the fretboard to help you learn, but the feature can be turned off to just display the LEDs to the music being played too. Looking forward to getting it and trying it out.

Polytuner 3 (TC Electronics -- IMHO, the best pedal tuner on the market today) Beat Buddy 2 (Singular Sound -- I hate playing to a metronome, and, IMHO, this is the best drum machine pedal available on the market today) Crate Powerblock Amp -- It may be difficult to replace, but I'd try. I love this little amp (predates the Joyo lunchbox amps by 15+ years. Even has a carrying case. I probably wouldn't try to replace it because it's vintage and would cost a lot to replace, but my uncle's Guild Starfire V, which my aunt gave me after he died, is the one guitar I'd hate to lose the most.

Dream writing
Ok, I feel crazy asking this, but this one is for my fellow songwriters. I’ve written about 40-50 songs. Some good, some not - as expected. However, the ones I feel are the best are the ones I’ve written in my sleep. I wake up with the entire song in my brain, ready for me to record. I just simply have to learn to play the parts. This accounts for about 6-7 of my songs. Has this happened to anyone else, or do I need more therapy? 😂 Please tell me I’m not alone.

I don't recall ever coming up with a song while I slept, but it makes sense that it's possible. The subconscious takes over, which is, in my opinion, where the best ideas come from.
