You could also leave the data type the same (datetime) and control the output view with a text formatting: Default of txtInput, Text(galExcelTable.Selected.DateTimefield, "mm/dd/yyyy")
Introduce Yourself to the Rest of the Group!
I'd love to hear more about each of you, what your goals are, and what you're currently working on with Power Apps! ...if you have a cool workstation set up, share it! I'll go first...

@Gayle Rubin no charge for the Zoom call. I'm excited that you are watching the videos and getting help from them. This is what Darren and I love. Programming, teaching and empowering! Set up a call! I can't wait to talk to you! 😊

@Tim Edwards Welcome to our little community here, Tim. It is nice meeting you. I am an instructor with Darren's Accelerator program. Reading about you and what you are doing with PowerApps, I'm thinking you may be a really good fit for Accelerator. Would love to talk to you more about it if this is something you might be interested in. Here is a link to book a zoom call with me and Darren: https://calendly.com/super-power-labs/quick-call-kurt-darren
Group Shortcuts!!!
I almost went crazy with too many bookmarked shortcuts... It makes more sense to group them.. lol

I never have a problem with bookmarks. This is how I solved the bookmark problem.

BTW....I still do groups in a couple of my browsers as its just easier to get to related bookmarks. Dont have to look at all those icons. You dig?
Component Libraries
What an absolute game changer! This might be old news for some people here, but I only stumbled on it today. Huge time saver. Organize your favorite components into a Component Library, which can then be shared with co-developers in your environment for importing into their apps. Best is if you update a component in the library, the changes filter through to all apps (in the same environment) that access that component. @Darren Neese / @Kurt Larson - a PPC demo suggestion. So slick! 🧐 https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/canvas-apps/component-library#component-library-permissions

You just gave me a good reason to take another look at components. Til now, it just felt like (don't really know what that feels like but I always say that), the component section has been really developed and sort of "janky." Guess my main judgement of them is that they allow global variables which, to me, breaks every rule of component development. <sigh> but it looks like you have come across something that makes this something to dig into....."slick"

No....I actually think that my judgement may be flawed in them. I think you are right to use them, and perhaps I am wrong for not using them! And what you just brought to the table was pretty cool! Really appreciate your insight Wendy!
