End of Week Accountability
@Ankhara Akeru, @Jared Fenn, @Rhys Hall How did your intentions play out this week. I recorded 50% of my daily tracking. My intention was 100%. I'm gonna go backdate some stats and look forward to hearing how y'alls week went.

Know myself better - go to know that even though i dont watch full football seasons anymore, its still gutwrenching when the Bills lose in the playoffs. and even if I get over it much quicker because i dont watch full seasons, i'm still in community with people who do, and i have to strategize on how to tune out. Do the actions I strategized as consistent as possible - gold star system worked well. i felt consistent, but even better, i could go back and look at my consistency or lack thereof. its also nice to finally have a system to fall back on when life is lifeing, so i at least have a baseline Be flexible in how I get those things done, while still getting those things done - i had a migrane take out my whole day last wed and a little of my thursday, and some family stuff pop up over the weekend. I'm learning how to accept rest so my body can recover, and happy that ive learned strategies to be able to show up for family while still having boundaries. Understand that things don’t always go as planned, and that adjustments are necessary for consistency - see above
A Question on Race and Manhood
Let's spark some dialogue here. This is a LOADED and multi-layered question. In my experience Racial dymanics often get glossed over and overlooked in men's work where their are men from many different backgrounds. I'm here for depth. So let's get deep. Do you feel that whatever race(s) you identify as (if you identify as a race at all), have any affect on: 1. How you show up in the world as a man? 2. How you see yourself as a man? 3. How you see other men based upon your ideas of their race(s) in contrast and comparison to yours? 4. How you treat and interact with other men? 5. How you feel you are treated by other men? Feel free to jump in with whatever you have to share on this. I am celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. today with some depth. Let's grow.

first, having the experience of identifying as spirit/soul/source for periods of time during journeys over the years, and integrating them has has been a nice break and helpful in restructuring how i think about race and identity. at the same time coming back to the world that runs on racism is challenging and its been helpful speaking to other ppl who have had similar experiences to trade strategies on how to balance those truths and live them out. How you show up in the world as a man? - yes. race affects how i show up in the world as a man, because i am aware that the full range of my emotions, particularly anger, historically get policed, literally and figuratively in a different way. Race adds another factor in deciding whether i am willing to deal with the repercussions of expressing myself, depending on my set and the setting How you see yourself as a man? - yes at times because in the body, how i show up as a man at any given moment may be influenced by how i see myself connected to my immediate family’s history in this country, and black ppl as a whole. Externally, its been important to me to become more aware of the affects of the imagery through marketing and promoting of the many different products, art and ideas on my sense of self as a black man How you see other men based upon your ideas of their race(s) in contrast and comparison to yours? - yes. because many white men i’ve met weren’t taught about how race is constructed and how the concept affects their sense of self and identity as well, it can be like walking through a room of people with blindfolds on, who don’t know they’re blindfolded. It can be extremely difficult to tell who is being intentionally racist vs, who is deeply unaware of their bias, vs someone who is trying to figure it out. that is very draining, especially when trying to see someones humanity while also keeping yourself safe. This does not only apply to white men, but answering this question when it comes to interacting with other black men, and/or other people of color is much different
Gold stars still work ✨⭐️🌟💫✨
First, it was nice to share with yall today and see yall light up. That was really encouraging, thank you So I shared on the call today that I had the idea to take a cue from elementary school and give myself gold stars for attendance. I bought one of those laminated attendance posters and a pack of gold stickers, and I wrote out the activities i listed in my strategy at the top and dates the side. Every time I show up, I get a gold star and IT FUCKING WORKS 😂. I haven’t read before bed in months but I made sure to read last night so I got my star. The 5 or 6 year old that still lives in my nervous system is he’s so excited to see this sheet full of stars that he’s helping to fuel the adult version of me to complete my strategy with more ease.

Daily rituals
What are your daily rituals, what about habits. What do you do to start your day, to get grounded or reset from a heavy day? I'm working on weeding out certain habits and turning others into rituals. I like mornings. I like the quiet and solitude. My father lived in South America as a child for years and his family got in the habit of drinking Yerba Mate 🧉 every morning. It has stuck with me and each morning to sit in the quiet before the family is awake and drink a mate. This has been a habit. As I learned about rituals and the value they can have, I have intended to make this time more ritualistic and about me; about preparing for the day; making the day more intentional. I'm looking for suggestions or ideas to help me be more intentional with the time I'm devoting to being intentional. Tips or advice to consider of how to make this time more caluable. I'd love a more structural way to spend this ritual time. Some days it's wasted scrolling. Some days I spend it catching up on a few things undone from yesterday. Last week I loved the ManOS lite as it gave me a purpose for my ritual time and it felt productive and uplifting. I would love to hear about your rituals and how you use them intentionally. I want my time to launch me forward for the day and not be a recovery from yesterday. I understand that's needed, but if every morning is spent in reprieve, I'll lose momentum and the whole intent of my morning ritual is to give me intention for the day.

For me, the morning goes: drink water, meditate, eat light, workout. All of it helps my mood and focus. I heard somewhere that water when you wake up is very important because you haven’t had it for 6-8 hours at that point. At my best I have it near the bed. I try to have two glasses, and it makes my body come back on line quicker than I do without it. 10-20 min of meditation is crucial for me because it replaces scrolling, (and I love/hate scrolling 😅). it gives me a chance to get focused on what I’m doing for the rest of the morning without talking to myself like a drill sergeant, and keeps my mind from focusing on whatever crazy shit happened in the world as soon as I wake up. Lastly, the gym (ideally) or a workout at home helps me get moving. Ideally I get out of the house, and even if I don’t feel like it, my morning is better if all I do is get to the gym and walk on the treadmill, or doing jump rope vs not moving at all. I wind up using that energy for whatever I have to do next. This week I’m going to add the 3 journal questions Tah mentioned in the morning. To be honest, I don’t feel like doing the whole condor journal right now, but I’ve answer those questions consistently before and it’s helpful, and getting consistent might give me the momentum to do a condor workbook at some point soon

@Jared Fenn it’s 4 questions, my bad: Who am I ? (Right now. Ex: I am the person that doesn’t want to get out of the bed) What is my unconscious commitment right now ? (What have I been committing to that has been keeping me from doing things and being who I wanna be every day?) What is my new conscious commitment for the day? (What is my commitment that I’ve been aware of, that I’ve been getting in the way of, that I want to commit to right now?) What are 3 things I’m gonna do to love on myself today?
