You Never Know What Doors It Might Open.
This morning I went to the car dealership to get my oil changed. Simple errand. But what happened next reminded me why I always aim to lead with genuine curiosity and kindness.
While waiting, I noticed another gentleman sitting nearby. We made eye contact and I felt that nudge. So I asked him: “How are you doing today?”
That one simple question sparked a full hour long conversation.
We talked life, business, where we are from and somewhere in that conversation he asked the golden question: “So what do you do?”
So obviously I told him: “I buy apartment buildings.”
What happened next blew me away.
Not only was he intrigued and asked how does a 23 year old buy apartments but he literally called a friend right then and there. A successful business owner who’s been looking to get into commercial real estate. He introduced us on the spot.
One moment of authentic connection turned into two potential future investor relationships.
But here’s the real takeaway:
You never know who you’re sitting next to.
You never know what someone might be going through.
And you never know how far a simple, sincere “how are you doing today?” might go.
Let this be your reminder to show up not just as a professional, but as a human being first. Be the light in someone’s day. You’ll be surprised how often the universe brings that light right back.
Stay curious. Stay kind. Stay ready.
Because relationships are the real ROI. 🤝
