African Money Ritual for Prosperity
Items Needed
- White cloth (for purity and to open the way)
- A small bowl of clean water (life force, blessings)
- 7 cowrie shells (symbol of money, wealth)
- Palm oil or honey (to sweeten and draw abundance)
- A coin or paper currency (your “seed” offering)
- A green candle (growth, money energy)
- Incense or herbs (bay leaf, basil, or frankincense
- Prepare the space and lay the white cloth on a table or altar. Place the bowl of water in the center. Around it, arrange the 7 cowries in a circle.
- Call the Ancestors & SpiritsStand before the altar and say aloud:“Ancestors of my blood and spirit, open the way. Spirits of prosperity and abundance, walk with me. May the river of wealth flow to my hands and remain with me.”
- Sweeten the PathPlace a few drops of honey or palm oil in the water. This “feeds” the spirits of money to attract blessings.
- Activate with FireLight the green candle. As it burns, hold the coin or paper money in your hands and speak into it:“As this money grows, so does my wealth. As my hands give, so my hands receive.”
- Offer & SealPlace the coin in the bowl of water. Sprinkle a little of the water outside your door or at a crossroads as an offering to the spirits of the land.
- Close with GratitudeClap your hands 3 times (an African way to seal prayers). Thank the ancestors and spirits. Let the candle burn safely until it goes out.

- Afterward, take the coin from the water, dry it, and keep it in your wallet as a charm for money flow.
