Ok, well 338 days to be exact 😉 Here is one of my top performing YouTube videos on how to save money by making cold brew coffee at home. It has 4.1k views, 185 watch hours, and 24 subscribers as of today (Nov 10, 2025). The thumbnail is bright and colorful. Text in the thumbnail is short and clear (a dollar figure and the word SAVED in all caps). You have the classic red arrow standing out against a blue background. What’s the arrow pointing at, the container or the beans or the spout on the container? (Evokes curiosity). And a familiar Starbucks logo faded in the background for anyone looking that closely. The title is “How I Saved $1000 Making Cold Brew Coffee At Home!” Note, it isn’t “How TO save $1000…” but rather “How *I* Saved $1000…” making it more personal to me. Nobody can argue with what I did, but they might argue with advice that doesn’t come from a place of experience. I’m telling a story, not giving a lecture or telling YOU what YOU should do. This is important! People hate to be told what they aught to do. The title also uses a nice round number of $1000, while the thumbnail uses a very specific number to the penny. Both types of numbers can attract attention for different reasons, so I found a way to do both at the same time. And the title has some good keywords in it. Anyone searching for Cold Brew Coffee, homemade cold brew, or make coldbrew at home, should come across this video as long as YouTube keeps recommending it. Not all videos are winners, and this one certainly isn’t a “viral” video, but you can see from the charts below that it has only done better as time goes on, so I thought it was worth diving into and reverse-engineering what worked for it! The best part is, I barely planned this video. I just thought, “What is the quickest way I can show people my cold brew method” and “how can I package the title/thumbnail/intro hook to get people’s attention,” and that was it. I dropped some affiliate links in the description, and people have used them!
