Nothing Works the First Time
I was watching a video earlier this morning of a man talking to a group of people, most likely a seminar of somekind, and he tells them that nothing works on the first time you do it. I mean it does, but not perfectly. We strive for "perfection", yet short of getting a 100 on a test in school, perfection is about its pursuit. When we first tried to tie our shoes, did we get it on the first try? What about pararllel parking? Reading out loud in class, the first time we talked to someone we wanted to date, painting, playing an instrument or new sport? Some maybe able to say yes, we did one or some or for those that are naturally gifted or want us to think that way, they say yes to all. But that is not reality. Don't pressure yourself to "get it right" on the first try as you've never done the thing that you are trying to do before! Give yourself some grace as well as time to develop, just don't throw the towel in when you haven't even really begun.

Read, Read, Read
Sometimes we don't take advice, good advice, at the time when it's given. It could be for any number of reasons, skeptical of what was said or it's outcome, we forget to act, doesn't think it applies to us, etc., could be any number of things. If there is one piece I would suggest; it would be to read. Yes a physical book in your hands and on anything. Make it entertainment at first, then move onto something that will help you in your field but just get into the habit and before you know it you'll be reading two or more at a time. It just helps keep us grounded while in a growth mindset. Not only that it will also keep you sharpe as a barber's straight razor. Our minds need exercise just like our bodies do.

How to Overcome the Unexpected
This can and will happen. You are talking with a potential client and then BOOM, another party is involved, they aren't the real decision maker, some piece of information that is important wasn't shared with you, etc. There are a few ways to conquer this; one let it run over you while scrambling to rectify the situation or two realize that this is GOING to happen every now and then so you can calmly deal with what's in front of you. Being prepared always helps but it isn't the end all to be all, it's a guide to help lead you in the right direction while knowing how to circle back if a part of, or many parts, of your process are skipped. You might even see it as an opportunity to add this to your process by saying, "what are the possible resistence factors or how should I pivot if X happens?" Would love your feedback and thoughts!

What To Do? What's Next? Am I Off Track?
In order to get clients from one stage to the next, you must have a process in place. It helps maintain order, set expectations, and put your client at ease. It also helps if you find yourself off track so you can circle back to make sure nothing was missed.

It's a totally different world when you are first beginning your career in sales. Being paid a commission, having to work leads, make phone calls, send emails, it can be a lot, however keeping track of those numbers early on will pay off in the long run.
