Quick Urban colour sketching
It can be very interesting to see what happens when we set a time limit for our painting. Here I took an almost random photo of a street corner near me, and used it as a starting point for a quick practice painting. If you're wondering it's in central Barking, the next town. I wasn't focusing on getting a likeness just general composition like the positioning of the the building and trees. And I added a tall tree on the right in order to create a strong shadow across the foreground. Another little tip from this exercise is that we are allowed to change the weather. The photo was taken on a dull day but it didn't matter as we can make it a sunny day.I just decided where the sun was and cast the shadows accordingly. I think I did this about a year ago and don't remember exactly how long it took or even the reason - I think I was just trying out different colors for shadow tones, but it wouldn't have been longer than 15 mins as it was on a small sheet.

Demo for my local group
Textures I had hoped to have at least one course ready by now for you to look into, but I,m afraid ive had all sorts of difficulties trying to access photos of my paintings and uploading them here. So i decided to put something up here in the general chat. Yesterday my painting group met up and we explored the topic of texture in watercolor - rocks, tree bark, running water etc. Here is the painting i did stage by stage to explain the painting method. The pictures are loading i think but dont be surprised if they dont appear immediately. I ll try and find another way if they dont. I hope you have a lovely weekend. I,ll be preparing classroom material.
Painting on the train in California 😄
Hi everyone, I'm so happy to be here! 😄 I recently picked up watercolor painting on my train commute to my day job. I had been thinking to myself for the longest time that I wanted to paint again (I used to do acrylic painting as a kid) and I have always loved the dreamy and ethereal effects of watercolor. I then thought, why not turn my commute (usually fairly exhausting and mundane as I commute 2 hours each way) into a fun pasttime, so I went and bought a cute travel paint set (size of an iPhone) that fits perfectly in my backpack and take it out during my commute. I've only done a few so far but I found that it really makes me feel alive and creative again when I'm painting! I love it ☺️💕. The pic with the paint palette is my first one 2 weeks ago, and the one with the hot air balloons is one I just finished now on my commute home 😄

Coffee Hour
I,m very sorry the coffee hour did not happen today, and especially sorry if any of you tried to attend it at an inconvenient time for you - maybe very early or very late. I had a very weak signal at just the wrong time although it had been fine the previous evening, but still I shouldn't have relied just on my phone. So next time I,ll go to the library or somewhere. It was just to say hi anyway so hopefully next week. I hope to create some material for the classroom area very soon hopefully this week - just had a chromebook delivered and getting used to it, so thank you all for your patience. Have a good rest of the week.
