WOTM - February
February ticked along nicely: the Monterey Blacktip GMT “Alfred” swam into the collection, and next month the TWB prize is landing – the Praesidus “Iwo Jima Field Watch.” I’m very curious to see how that campaign-tested trooper will fare on the wrist… and in the rankings.
As you’ll see from the list below, I try to march as many watches past the cuff as humanly possible. There are 12 main rotation pieces, with a dependable core of 8 that regularly elbow their way onto the wrist multiple times each month. It’s basically a tiny horological Hunger Games in my watch box.
The February podium looked like this:
• In 3rd place: the Erebus Ascent Blue MoP – finally getting some proper wrist time (4 wears) now that I’m back in suits. Seems it just needed a dress code to come out of its shell.
• In 2nd: the new kid on the block, Alfred, putting in a strong debut with 5 wears. That *does* include our club’s mandatory “three days back-to-back-to-back” initiation ritual for every new arrival. Hazing, but make it horology.
• And in 1st: the ever-present, ever-amazing Tudor Royal 41 with 6 wears. It keeps hogging the spotlight, and I still catch myself staring at it wondering how I got away with owning something that nice.
The spreadsheet shot shows up the wears for all the watches so far this year.
