Is this too good to be true?
Hi everyone, Just quick question, as I’ve been offered a role that sounds almost too good to be true. Earlier this week, I received an email from a company called Nova Publishing, asking for a voiceover for a project. I replied to them earlier this morning, asking for further details, and I’ve just received the follow up email, describing the project. The production that they need help with, is for a Spotify immersive drama with a final fee of $2,500. The creative director has offered me this role without asking for an audition or about the equipment that I use to record. I’m extremely suspicious of this too good to be true offer, and wanted to know if this was, indeed, a scam (possibly a AI scam), or if anyone had heard and worked with Nova Publishing before? Thank you everyone.
Audition
Hi all, Just a little background, I'm a retired Broadcast Engineer, I've been in radio and television many years (40). I mainly worked "behind the scenes" designing and building studios and control rooms and yes audio booths. My Wife, a retired telecommunications engineer started writing books. One day she said "Hey, why don't you put that radio voice of yours to work narrating my books." And here I am. So far I have published 35 audio books. I am ALWAYS looking for ways to improve and have watched many, many of Peters videos. Peter you are fantastic! Anyway, I thought this group would be fantastic for improving and getting feedback. I'm attaching a recent audition I did and would like any and all feedback, good or bad, let me have it. I feel this is the only way to improve and some of the courses out there that guarantee you will make thousands with your voice if you only send them 3,000.00 are, well let me just say, be careful. So, without further ado, here is my audition.
Arc de Triomphe English with French
I'll share one of the recordings I'm thinking of using for my showreel. Is it too compressed? Even though I tried to keep background noise to a minimum, I can still hear something. The purpose here is to show off my accurate pronunciation of French within an English language report.

A beginner's guide to authentic acting
Here's a video I made a few years ago but still is just as valid today, and many people have said this 15 minute ad-lib has been most useful to them when starting voice acting to win auditions; one message saying they learnt more from this video than from a year in drama school! See what you think; it contains some personal thoughts, some acting theory and then a drama exercise for you! Please post if you have further tips or if you disagree with me!
