How can you try the vanlife?
Hi everyone, I've been lurking here for a while, reading up on things and while I'm super excited about getting a van, I'm also a bit hesitant. I lived in an RV (stacaravan) for 2 years in the Netherlands and the winters were.. not easy. I easily get cold. 😬 Before I jump from one thing to another and end up finding out it's not for me, I'm wondering.. is there a way to try out vanlife? I see some "airbnbs" and places where you can rent a van, but it's like €300 for a night?! Is there.. some other way? Or are people like how I was with the RV, you like the idea, you research and you jump in and buy your own? 😂 but this time around I really, really want to first try it out without going bankrupt in a night or by buying something I won't like. 😅 so umm.. where did you go to get some real-life experience? 😊
How I discovered this place...
In my introduction post I spoke about The Vanlife Network which is an extension of The Vanlife Community. Why I joined was because of connecting with other vanlifers in Zoom calls and real life. But I discovered another big advantage, it's our Road Fam Google maps with Must Visit places which are added by us, the members. I absolutely would never discovered this beautiful place, Orgues d'Ille in France without this map. And there are many other beautiful places to visit, all added by fellow likeminded vanlifers, so you know the chance it's something for you is way big! Interested and want to join ? How are you so free
I'm curious to know how you all are able to travel freely? What is your occupation? Any advice?

See a Coffee cup on the dashboard?
Yes, vanlife can feel lonely, especially when the rain starts falling, the cold sets in, and the nights grow longer. Whether you’re parked up alone or surrounded by seniors in white campervans watching satellite dish TV, you can use this sign as a “feel free to knock” invitation, even if your blinders are closed due to cold or privacy. Let fellow vanlifers know you’re open to sharing a coffee, a beer, or merely the view. Enjoy a good conversation, make some music, or learn a fun (and maybe useless) skill together 🙃 Feel free to knock!
