Do we procrastinate because our survival isn’t at stake?
Do we procrastinate because our survival isn’t at stake? Maybe... you (we all) procrastinate because you don't feel like you're in real danger. But you are sacrificing something. Think of it this way: Your brain has a "survival mode" to protect you from threats. In the modern world, the biggest threats aren't physical—they're to your identity and beliefs. - If you identify as "bad at math," your brain will resist doing math homework to protect that identity. - If you see yourself as "not a morning person," your brain will fight waking up early. To stop procrastinating, you need to update your identity. How? Change your environment. (THIS COMMUNITY is a great place to meet like minded ones 🔴!!) 1. Go where you feel a little out of place. If you want to be a writer, go to a coffee shop and write. If you want to be fit, go to the gym. Your brain will start to adapt to fit in. /(other words) To be more productive, force yourself into physical and digital locations that make you feel like you don’t yet belong. 🔥 2. Follow people who are already who you want to be. Their habits and mindset will start to rub off on you. /(other words) Follow people with the goals you want to pursue, the beliefs that your future self could benefit from, and the knowledge that allows you to achieve clarity. 🔥 When you see yourself as "a person who takes action," working toward your goals starts to feel natural. You'll feel uncomfortable not making progress, and that feeling will push you forward. @Niki Weiss was sharing with me yesterday what she is sacrificing to make her dreams become a reality and it's probably a similar story for most...
